TOTAL NEWBIE questions!

Hey,
I'm all new to this and i want to try it only once...
SO, now i have my little bag, i heard its old...
1.What's gonna happen if it's like a little bit old?
2.Can I roll it with regular paper, and without a mouthpiece?
3.Can I put only weed in it, do I really need tobacco, and what does tobacco do?
4.When do I know i have to stop smoking the joint?

Hey man, its a fun little hobby, you will probably enjoy it.

Ok, if its a little old i'm not sure, it should be ok. I roll it on regular rolling paper without a mouthpiece, and i don't put tobacco in it. I stop smoking when it gets really small, and then save the end, or Roach, for another occasion.

a roach is just the little part that is left wen the joint is low. like a cigarete butt, but with weed in it. and u can save the roach if u want cause if u had a pipe u can put the roach weed in the pipe. well anyway yes u could quit after once. u might not even get high ur first time. depends if u smoke it right. take a hit suck it into ur lungs and hold it in as long as u can.

A roach is the last bit of a joint OR it is a piece of rolled up paper or cardboad you put at the the mouthpiece end of the joint (or blunt) to help it draw better. I don't really know anyone who uses the the draw helping roaches, but I know they exist somewhere. You can roll it even if its old. It still has the thc in it, which is the stuff that gets you high. It will be a little harsher, and burn a little faster, but thats about it. Tobacco is a preferance thing. Again don't know anyone who actually mixes tabacco with weed, but I hear there are some (maybe a Europe thing?). I love blunts because they have just the right amount of tobacco without needlessly destroying my lungs. You stop smoking the joint, when its too hot to hold, and/or smoke (it will burn your throat even more, because the smoke doesn't have time to cool, and it will also burn your lips). There are various traditions for what to do with the leftover roach (being the last little bit of the joint/blunt). Some people like to swallow it, (making sure that the joint/blunt is extinquished, others save it for grandparent joints (where you combine lots of roaches to make a super resinated joint. Others just toss the joint like a cigarette butt. Anyways, have fun with the weed man, and take a hit for me.

Personal preferance, I like to take a little extra fresh air after my hit, because it burns a little less, and it helps me hold it longer. It will all hit your lungs, as long as you drawl from your lungs, and not from your mouth. The key is to hold it for at least 6 secs. I hold mine for 15+, don't know if it helps any extra but thats just the way I do.

I hold mine for 15+, don't know if it helps any extra but thats just the way I do.

A lot of people say that it doesn't matter if you hold your hit, doesn't get you any higher.

But... thinking about it.. if the smoke is there longer, your lungs will absorb more thc. People get high from shotgunning, so your lungs cant possibly be absorbing all of the thc if you exhale 2 seconds after taking a hit. I've held a few hits so long that no smoke came out when I exhaled... it gets me higher. :D

Hold the smoke until you cough your ass off. If it's your first time and you do it right, you should cough pretty hard. After awile, try to get your highest w/out coughing because coughing makes your eyes cashed as a mothafucka!

You definately get higher holding it in. I just don't know what the "ideal" time is. You see, thc will be absorbed into your lungs at some rate, at some point there will be much less thc in the smoke, and therefore you are getting thc deposited at a low enough rate, that the "highness" will be marginal. I don't know how long this takes, so I try to hold it long enough that I'm past that point. 15 seconds works out well for me. I've heard 3 seconds, but that doesn't seem to work nearly as well. It probobly depends largely on the size of the hit you've taken, and the size of your lungs. I've done the no smoke exhale too, it has a name, maybe ghost hit? I can't remember for sure, and I'm too lazy to look it up.

the "ideal time" is supposed to be 15-17 seconds....and of course you will get more thc if you hold it in longer...no one's ever it any other way....but most of the thc is abosrbed rather quickly so it's just personal prefrence and wastefulness per person that will say how long to hold it....if you're going to be smoking alot i'd say you don't have to hold it in as long (and hell if you are with a bunch of people and don't wanna get ragged on for being weak then you might wanna only hold it for two or three seconds....) but if you're by yourself or only have so much then i'd say hold it in for 15 seconds or more....

Ya, only the stoners have seen it where I am too. Noone else has even heard of it, but every stoner I ask say its a great movie.

I think stoners might even appriciate more than non-stoners. But its a great movie for everyone to see, and great soundtrack I am listening to now.

I hear you there man, I drank and didn't even smoke this last weekend, as there were so many graduation parties. It wasn't extremely enjoyable.

Oh ya, all my stoners said it was a good movie, so when I was getting something at best buy I just bought it to see if it was good, if not I would give it to one of them as an early birthday present, but it was fantastic.

1. Really, I wouldn't worry about it if it's a bit old. As long as it doesn't smell rotten or anything, and it's been stored in a cool, dry place, it should be fine.

2. Yes, you can smoke it out of a regular paper, though rolling J's can be sort of difficult for a "newbie". You might want to make an apple pipe, because they're easy to make and badass. You can search for "apple pipe" on the boards to see directions. They're very easy to make.

3. As a purist, I like to only roll my J's with just weed. I can hit them harder/hold them in longer when it's just weed, and I don't really like to "pollute" my high with the nicotine buzz, though you can roll a "spliff" (a joint with weed and tobacco) if you want.

4. Just smoke until you get high. You'll know when to stop, but don't overdo it. Just smoke enough to get high, and you should be fine.

I would recommend getting a job so you can afford weed. It's really a fun hobby once you get into it.

after 3 hours of trying TO ROLLL, i just cut a letter, so there is a sticky part where u can lick...
Then I put pot in it and rolled it... Its a bit tight cuz i pressed it to make sure it wont fall, here are some pics!

That looks like it should work fine, though I worry that it might burn too fast/not fast enough. You might want to lick the whole thing before you smoke it if it burns too fast... and I wouldn't suggest using a letter next time... that paper tastes kind of bad.

if you don't know what a roach is your to young to toke, buy a lolly and give it a go in a few years when your about 14

Wow, this board may have just caused the birth of a new stoner.
My only advice is to make sure you take something sweet, like a candy bar or a pie, because it will both prevent a whitey/the bends and taste delicious after smoking.
