being an american I'm not exposed to the great soccer you are oversea's, but I do get some games on tv weekly with a few show's about the league.. but could you explian the hatred between arsenal and man u?? I was a Man U fan because they were the first team to get a market where I'm from and I followed them for a little while, just never understood what all led up to them hating arenal and vis versa..
ps. i'm not sure if they have played again since but I do remember the last game I saw between them Man U won.. :)

Well really it's quite simple. :) You see, its the epic battle, the epic struggle for domination. Man U have for most of the late 90's been the dominent force. Then Arsenal reclaimed its former glory with a win of the premiership and the FA Cup with a double. Last season Arsenal went undefeated and were champions again. Then this season Man U beat us twice in the league and stopped our run to 50 wins undefeated to 49... But the last match Man U Vs. Arsenal was the FA Cup final which arsenal won. :D The hatred comes from many places, such as the rivalry between opposing geographical positions within the country itself. Arsenal (London, South) Vs. Man United (Manchester, North) I'm glad to say it's not so much as a /deadlly/ rivalry as much as a friendly one.
Edit: Amsterdams a glory hunter! :p

Being born and raised in Oklahoma I have a passion for OU football. I live my life by it :)
As for the EPL, I'd go with Newcastle. I don't watch too much, but I root for them. We get about every single ManU game here in the States though. Everyone here who likes soccer seems to like ManU or Arsenal :(. OH well

Man, i hate when americans call the premiership the "EPL" :( Most americans hate soccer, i don't know why. Like every other country in the world loves the game... <_< America just suck at soccer, their girls are better then the guys. They just can't face that they aren't good at something so they think it sucks. I played soccer in the states, and being from England naturally i twined them all up. I'm not saying they were all bad coz' they had some good players that were dedicated but that was a minorirty. Amsterdam you sound like a real fan though, which is good. Did you follow the Dutch league when you lived there? Personally my favorite leagues are The Premiership or the "EPL" -Throws up- then Seria A, the Italian leage and then La Liga the Spanish league.

Hell Yea! Most Americans i talk to about soccer only know about Man U and they think they're so cool wearing the shirt. They don't know anything about Manchester, they don't know the struggle. But i'm glad Malcolm Glazer took them over so he can ruin the club. :D

I'm an american and I love soccer. There is no better world competition than world cup.
Of course, in America, scoring is an important part of sports, and a sport with very little scoring isn't going to be popular.

Jesus....................excuse me for saying EPL. The EPL is the cooooooooolest. Americans don't h ate soccer because we "suck" at it, as you so kindly put it, it's because NOBODY plays it. I watch SportsCenter every night and soccer is covered like, once a month, and it's usually just a badass goal or something. Also, it's not that we hate it, it's just that nobody cares about it. In conclusion, the EPL is just great :D

Hey "Everyday" the Pats suck? Can you send me some of what you are smoking.
And to our English er football friends, the most exciting thing about your sport is the spaz who yells GOAAAAAL and trying to figure out who the hooligans in the crowd are going to beat up next. As for the game itself, I am prepping for the soccer season by watching my lawn grow and waching the paint on my house dry. Once my eyes bleed dry doing that, I figure T am ready for the game!!

And marko, the pats do not literally suck.I was saying that out of anger as they have been to 3 out of the 4 last super-bowls.I'll give them and Bellycheck or whatever his fuckin name is some credit. With that said,go Buffalo!

Everyday,
Your team improved the day they dumped Drew "cement feet" Bledsoe. The kid coming in at QB looks to be good but he will have some growing pains. We can talk about this more during the season.

There is 10 times more scoring in baseball than soccer.
Hockey is a Canadian sport.

yeah america dosent hate soccer because we "suck" its because its so BORING....there is MAYBE 5 points TOTAL a game, if the score is high, and its just people running around kicking and the fans killing eachother, they say its because theyre into the game but i think its boredom rage.....soccer is so slow and so pointless, i uesd to play it back in the day and i was too good for my age group so i quit, that and i hated the feeling that i should be wearing a dress
Reefer Rogue
05-28-2005, 05:32 PM
Lol @ wearing a dress i don't know where you got that from... Talk about a boring sport; baseball, wow, kill me now. Ok, i know you guys don't hate it coz you "suck", i shouldn't have said that. I just don't get how every other in the world loves the game and feels the passion for it but America doesn't. For me, one of the most aggrivating things about living in the US was being constantly ridiculed for playing soccer. "omg you footfairy, play a mans sport like "football"... I still don't get how Americans can call it that when we invented the bloody game. Plus, there was no coverege of soccer games, ever! I also dislike college sports, i don't get how anyone can find that interesting unless you actually go to the college.
College fans are some of the most hardcore in the states. I live my life by the University of Oklahoma, so trust me, I know. There's more tradition and history involved in college sports as well, which is one of the reasons I like it so much. And you don't get the players bitching about contracts and stuff all the time, or go T.O. style and want more money. I don't like the NFL that much, but I watch the Texans all the time. lol I think it's pretty retarded when someone says "omg you footfairy, play a mans sport like "football" as you put it Rogue. Americans in general just don't respect the sport of soccer, I don't know why though lol. As you know we do some goofy stuff over here, so just add this one to the list :) Maybe it's because we don't watch the best in the world play. I never really liked soccer until the most recent World Cup. Plus, the U.S. did awesome for the States there. That sparked my interest in the sport. Now I watch the MLS whenever it comes on tv, and I always watch the Premiership ;) (that one was for you RR) lol

I would love to see Canes and Oklahoma play each other when they both have good teams would be a good game
Oh yeah, it would be a great game. Hopefully we could get some revenge for those losses in the 80's :) I'm not a fan of Miami by any means, but I love watching them play. The talent level of some of those guys is amazing. GL in the upcoming season. It's gonna be a great year :) We'll do our best to stop the Longhorns because if we don't, I have a feeling they're gonna win the Big12. "We'll do our best" lol. We haven't had much trouble over the past 5 years.
