Hey everyone. It's been quite some time since I've posted on these boards, but it seems to me that there is very little discussion going on, and what do us stoners like to do more than discuss. Well I decided to post a daily commentary so we'll have something to talk about. I've been doing this for quite some time with some friends from college, but I feel it's important to extent these ideals further into the stoner community. Oh yea , I used to be Bonus007 on the forums, but for some reason, no longer able to log onto my old account. Ok, so today's commentary has something to do with something that I watched on T.V. this morning. It was called the Hour of Power, and it was a televised "service" that was supposed to depict the message of christ in a learning matter (I thought this was the intent of all churches. . . .) Ok, well as I sat watching, I began to notice a pattern. The show opened up with a huge orchrestra and choir (I kept thinking to myself "I wonder how many donations it took to hire that spectacle) After the musical piece was finished, the Reverend recited (Did NOT explain) a message from the scriptures. Immediately after, another musical piece was presented. After 5 minutes of listening to "Spread his message unto the nations" (Subliminal?), the reverend introduced an "extremely special guest" A fat-cat approached, and began talking about his "Wheelchair campaign" and how a gift of "only $75 can save the world through wheelchairs, even stop wars and bring peace" (If you don't believe me how ridiuclous this was, you can view for yourself the service at www.hourofpower.org, under archives) Ok, after the guy was finished sweating his balls off (Fucking prick) discussing how important wheelchairs are to the world, ANOTHER gigantic musical piece was presented, followed by the all-divine Revernend posing the following question: "What does the symbol of the cross mean to you?" And then he had the fucking balls to attempt to sell a ruby pendant cross, explaining how wonderful the symbol was, for 20 dollars. Now, after I was utterly disgusted by the program, I finally decided to turn it off (Television is the root of all evil anyhow). Here's what I have to say about what I saw: This was just proof to me that nothing is safe from the horrors and evils of captialism. It has englufed everything in our way of life and is slowly consuming souls. It evokes false wants and needs into one's mind, allowing them to be easily manipulated, etc. The program made me sick, I consider myself agnostic, for the corruptedness in ANY organized religion/governemnt is so blantant, alls you have to do is open your eyes. Now, that the subject is open up to debate, let's get it on! :p Any of you agree/disagree with what I had to say, or any of you have your own opinions on the subject?
