Just out of interest, can someone verify the final percentage ratio between Liberals and Republicans at the end of the election?

Over here, there was a huge fuss about who had actually won the morning the results were in. The Guardian (I think) told the nation Kerry had the most votes \:D/, but then ruined it shortly after with the bad news.

The final percentage given to the public was fucking close, something like 46% by 54%, yet I was watching a humorous political debate on CNN when I was in the US in February about how Bush exploits older, working, ethnic minorities and the best argument the Republic speaker could make was "well the majority of the country voted, 75% in favour of Bush" .

If I know anything about the British media, it's that ONLY tabloids make shit up. Someone clarify, preferably with a source (that means YOU Torog and Amsterdam) .
