use a video splitter... i use one called "easy video splitter", im sure you'll be able to find somethin that works if you search around online for it... but these are only for splitting mpg and avi files i think, so i hope that's the kind of movies you're talkin about... and if you're burning to dvd, i dont know why you'd have to do that because they hold like 4.7gb and the only reason i use the video splitter is to burn mpg/avi to VCD

I'm thinking he wants to cut an actual DVD movie down to fit on a single layer 4.7.
If that is the case, I opt for DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter. If you are inexperienced in these kinds of things (by your question, I am assuming you are), use DVD Shrink. It's much more user friendly than Decrypter. However, if DVD Shrink fails to get by a copyright protection, use Decrypter to rip the DVD to your hard drive, and then shrink the files with DVD Shrink.
Hope this helps you...

if that's what you want to do, you can do what you said or what i do... which i find to be the easiest method of them all... last summer i seriously spent hours on this
this is what i do, first, get AnyDVD to break the encryptions of all copyrighted dvds, then use CloneDVD or CloneDVD2, when used in combination they work perfectly... if you need them i can send em to you, just gotta install them then run the patches that come with them

thank you :)
i actually meant.....i d/l a film and the majority of the time its too big to burn directly onto the dvd....so i need to split the film in half so i cant fit the first half on one dvd and the second half on a second dvd...so i will check out this "easy video splitter"
sorry i didnt make this clearer before but i just smoked a spliff and couldnt actually type without having to think about every kew i was pressing....
thanks for the help :)

az666, are you sure youre not trying to burn the movies on to CDR , VCD or CDR-W?? That's probably why theyre not fitting on to one disk... I think you can fit roughly 70-80 minutes on to one disk, so you usually have to split movies in to 2 or 3 parts, depending on the length.
