Hey all, first grow, started flowering my 4 bag seed plants on the 21st december 2013 and from what I can tell they are all female and looking really good thus far...

My confusion and problem is that the preflower pistils on my most mature plant (one that showed sex first) have started browning and shriveling from the bottom of the plant upwards, the browning starts from the tip of the white pistil and receeds downwards until the whole pistil has become a brown shriveled little hair. I have done extensive research and have found contradicting view points, some say its normal and is just the preflowers dying off due to lack of pollination and is just an indication of sexual maturity but have also seen many saying this is a sign of pollination :( so how do u differentiate between the two? I am certain that none are male and am 98% sure I have no hermies either.

If someone could clarify whether its normal for preflowers to do this it would give me a lot of peace of mind, i'm kinda stressing since i'm not sure if this is ok or not

Thanks for any feedback and guidance :)

What size pots? soil or hydroponics?, what kind of light? what nutes? I'm new too and started flowering bag seed on 12/20... my pistils are all white...
This is mine... hope you figure it out...

25cm pots, soil grow (organic soil + perlite + vermiculite), nutriplex gro, micro and bloom combo is what they're being fed and are under a 400w hps

Did you're older preflowers not do this? surely someone must know whether this is normal or not

here is a pic to show what mine are pretty much doing http://www.420magazine.com/gallery/data/500/11-01-11_AutoCream_CaramelCSSprayDay7_PreflowersTreated. jpg

Hmm this is interesting, I've seen lots of posts where guys have said its normal for older preflowers to die off as part of their life cycle but it can also apparently be due to too much K, spraying, heat or high wind - seems to be quite the controversial topic amongst some boards...

Anyone else have any experience with preflowers browning and dying? I can see I am currently in the preflower stage and not in full bloom just yet but would really like to rule out any possible problems incase my harvest gets ruined
