crystal I have used ladybugs to kill thrips on my plants I work with professionally. Very thorough and efficient if the infestation isn't too heavy. Now it may be that certain species of ladybug are required to remove certain pests, but it's certainly worth a try.

No pests as of yet!!! Just as a precautionary move - I live in an area where farmers release them several times a year- so I caught a few and brought em in - I am really looking forward to seeing how it goes- hope they like it here! Feel like a new momma again lol!

In an area, wooded makes a difference, where the bugs like to over winter around the house and inside. I have a vacuum stick bug catcher to clean them up and do like to take them down into headquarters. Know you guys like clean and sterilize and headquarters is more of an outdoor garden, underground. With a resident ecosystem that includes mice and frogs, even tree frogs. But it seems hard to establish a permanent population.
Then couple of years ago, I found that they may be Asian beetles not lady bugs, freak out. Then after some research they seemed so similar, that I have been catching them again. I don't know if it's a silver bullet, but it makes me feel good.
Just sittin here, Taken care of business, watchin BTO

Freak out! ;)
Wonder which one….the farmers on all four sides of me do release lady bugs….i just assumed….that was stupid huh - but I am still excited about the egg..
I have wondered if they would survive in a semi sterile environment- I have a HUGE outdoor herb garden I thought I would put them in if they seemed to be suffering…
I bet the frogs are great in your headquarters, they are such beneficial little critters that according to old lore if you can keep a frog in the garden harvest will come easy….

Seems like what I found is that there's not much deference, the Asians have devolved a chemical defence. They taste and smell bad when frightened, and they have some spurs they can pince you with, eat very similar stuff. But these things are enough to but them on the bad list, by house wives everywhere, cause they can leave a stain.
