View Full Version : How much can I legally grow on my property?

Hello,

I recently moved to California and obtained my medical card. The house my wife and I bought would make a good setup for a small grow operation. I'm on a private well and solar power which produces significantly more kilowatts than the household uses so my water and electric bills would be zero. I'm on 5 acres well away from neighbors, schools, etc. and have an outbuilding on the property which would make a great grow room.

My question is: How much can I legally grow and are there any legal ways to increase it? I'm not looking for a huge operation and I'm not looking to put myself at risk by growing more than I'm allowed. Ideally I'd probably end up with an operation that yields 2-4 lbs per harvest at the most. My wife and I both have our cards. I'm looking into the laws right now but figured I'd also get some anecdotal answers from people who know more than I do about it.

I know that as a patient, I can only have 6 mature plants and 8 oz. Double that if I include my wife. My goal is to be able to grow more than that for sale to dispensaries or direct to medical patients. Are there any legal mechanisms in place that would allow me to grow 2-4lbs per harvest? I know I can get involved in a collective, but I'd rather keep the whole thing in-house, low key and without involving other people if possible.

I know the answer to this is probably: no, you can't legally do it, but I figured I'd ask anyways since I'm not as familiar with the laws (yet) as most people on these boards.

Thanks.
