Hello all, I am a new Medical patient so new in fact I am still waiting for my card to come in the mail. I have been around growing since I was a teenager though my best friend at the time, his parents were big time growers and would leave us to babysit the kids while they went on vacations and so I learned a bit about growing there. Anyway I have a problem and I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this but I wasn't sure where else it would fall into. So my problem is I am pretty picky about my MM, some would say obsessively picky about it, unfortunately we live in a rented house and although we have the perfect shop for growing in our back yard, that operation is a no go. So what I am trying to find is someone close by me who is willing to basically rent me a small chunk of indoor real estate to grow my meds and we can work out the details and reimbursement in person or in PM's. I'm starting to get really worried though that I will not be able to find a place to grow, my own little patch of heaven as I see it. Oh a few details about me I am a 34 year old male, honest and very trustworthy, with a number of health issues. I have for the past several years been on a regimen of about 6 prescription meds for anxiety, severe chronic pain, cholesterol, insomnia, the list goes on. Well this past summer I got my blood work done and my kidneys were showing signs of stress, so this November we did a follow up and now my Liver is roughly 5 times normal on test and 7 times normal on the other and I don't drink. The liver damage i all from prescription meds that can be replaced by MM. Also I have had two surgeries on my testicles for hydroceles which has left me with very low Test so I have to take an injection bi-weekly but more important than that I have to get an ultrasound done once a year on one of them because their is a dark spot on one side of the testicle that they are watching for it to become cancerous. I have been living and fighting with all of these problems for years now and I know I should have got my medical card back at day 1 but with nowhere to grow it, it wouldn't have done me any good. So, I ask you all to please give me a hand, be it advice and wisdom, some idea on how I can find a place to grow or a place to grow itself. I need help, I need it bad, and I am finally ready to ask for it. Thank you for your time reading this and you consideration of my predicament.

Is there a possibility you could purchase or built a grow tent & just tell your landlord (should he ask) that its a free standing wardrobe? Or if you have a good will or something similar, purchase a used wardrobe & convert it into a grow cabinet. If you can do that, grow SOG, use T5 fluorescents with CFL side/ supplemental lighting, & a small 4" exhaust fan on an inconspicuous side (complete with carbon filter). Install a cabinet lock on the doors, you'd be good to go. As far as helping you find a place to rent grow space, we'd have to know what state you live in. :)

Thought he wanted to go to Oregon:jointsmile:which is great. Stealthy is good, but most landlords don't like their property put at risk, so when they do find it they can be pissy.

I live in Oregon, salem to be exact and I have though about the indoor closet ninja grow, hell i actually have a 20'x20' shed in the backyard that i could grow a field in but my girlfriend is scared to death of getting caught by the landlord not to mention she has to young ids so there is that complication as well. if it was just me i would be growing in the shed and have it divided into different rooms for veg, bud, cloning etc. Unfortunately the queen of the castle has laid down the law. My only option is to find someone here in town who wouldn't mind letting me have a small patch of grow space in exchange for goods or cash.

Good news is my lady finally gave in and is letting my put a grow tent or two in the shed. Now I need to decide what strains to grow. I am not at all an expert on different strains but for those of you who are I am looking for something that is a BIG producer hopefully, like a LB or so per plant if not more and also is not too heady, something that doesn't mess with my anxiety but instead calms me way down and numbs my body or close to it to treat my joint pain. I also would like a strain pretty much purely for sleep, I haven't had a solid 8 hrs rest in years I want some shit that will put me in a coma with a smile. I also want to try my hand a cross breeding so if you can thin of a few strains that fit my criteria and would be good to cross that would be perfect. I seem to do better with Indicas than with Sativas if that helps. So come on people let the strain debate begin until we have a handful of finalists and seriously, Thank you all for the info.

Well I guess you've made out all the way around! Most any good indica will put out your lights. I like them for my insomnia & night pain. Sativa usually has that wake up kick, can raise anxiety & paranoia in some people. So now its time to hit up some seed banks! They (most) give info on type of high (you're looking for 'couch lock') size, yield & potency, so even if you don't order from them, you can use the info.
-- So congratulations & good luck. Keep posting. We're glad to give moral support & help when we can! ;)
BTW, bubble gum does it for me. Kush, northern lights, but you'll get the best info reading up on the seed banks.

Thanks I appreciate the well wishes. I already have my seeds for this time around the block. I can grow 6 mature plants and 18 clones by law so I am gonna go with 2 Pure Afghan, 2 Romulan or 2 Green House Cheese, 1 Cole Train and 1 OG Skywalker. Unless I get advice not to, I only have 1 Skywalker seed, 1 cole train seed, 13 Pure Afghan and 13 The OG#18xSkunk and 1 RockLock. I will be growing in a 96"x48"x78" grow tent hanging 2 T5 lights in the tent and when it comes time to flower I will swap out the bulbs. A 6" fan and charcoal filter, rope ratchets to raise and lower the lights, and a dual outlet digital light timer to keep my cycles on schedule? Only thing is I can't find T5 grow/flower bulbs to buy so I can swap when needed, anybody know where I can find them?

Ok. First, how many tubes are you using? Is it 2 fixtures containing multiple tubes, or just 2 tubes? For that size, you should have 2- 6tube (8 would be even better) fixtures plus side lighting. Side lighting could be CFLs. But if your current lights are a 2- tube fixture (or 2- 1tube fixtures) you could use them for sidelighting. Post back with your lighting info. Wouldnt want you to waster your seeds. :)

I am using 2 T5 8 bulb models on top, and on the sides I will be using your standard 2 bulb fixtures from home depot 2 on each long side of the tent. When flower time comes around I will swap the bulbs to the bud bulbs. I will be using Heavy 16 (I guess, it's what was recommended) and still trying to figure out what brand of soil

Ok, you're good to go on the lights. I use fox farm soils & nutes. Happy frog for seedlings & ocean forest in veg & flower (the ocean forest is strong enough to burn seedlings, happy frog is mild). If you can find pro-mix organic, that's an excellent soil too. Can be used from seedling to finish. I like to foliar feed with fox farm nutes too. Just mix it 1/4 strength in your spray bottle.
-- Sounds like you're ready to go! Now go have some fun! ;)

Sweet thanks for the advice. So I should use Fox Farms and not Heavy 16 as another person suggested? I just want whats gonna be cheapest, quickest and easiest for my first grow or two until I start to know what I am doing.

If you want quality, but cheap, go with the pro-mix organic. Your not paying for advertising crap. They have a standard mix, which is only pHballanced spaghnum moss & perlite, no nutes. Great as a mix base for those who like to mix their own, or add all the nutes themselves, but I use & recommended pro-mix organics. Great organics, makes happy plants. I don't use nutes for quite a few weeks. The plant will tell you when its time. They start to get pale. Ocean forest is expensive, but its worth getting a small bag to mix into the pro-mix organic for the last transplant. What ever nute I use, I always start my plants at only 1/2 strength till they're used to it. Better safe than sorry, nute burn can be nasty. :)

Ok thats what i will do is go with the pro mix and ocean forest on last transplant but how many transplant am I gonna be making? I stat the seed ina small cube then end up in a 5 gallon smart pot but what about in between? 1 transplant maybe? cube to #3 to #5? I need a graph or something lol

I move up 1 gal at a time. You don't want to transplant untill the roots hit the sides of the pot & will hold the soil together, minimizes stress & transplant shock. You can tell when its time to transplant by how often you need to water. Never transplant dry, always water first. :)

Thats good advice thanks. So how often do you transplant then? I notice most strains seem to be ready to flower in 8 weeks you must transplant about every two weeks or so?

Another question is should I get one of those hydrometer to test soil water content or is it obvious when it's too dry? Also what about PH, do i have to test that constantly?

I like the meters that are multi use, measure light and moisture, but pretty quick you will be able to tell by looking and by how heavy the pot is.
Oh- kinda depends on your source, some fluctuate allot, most are pretty stable, testing to start would be good.

I go cube, red solo cup, quart, gallon, might have one more size up before the 5. Going that big is going to increase you total time and going to take a lot of space.
