View Full Version : This is ridiculous: 18 days clean, still turning up positive on the 50ng/mL cuttoff.

I've read countless research papers on the elimination period of the inactive metabolites (THCCOOH) in urine. Most of them suggest that even for chronic users, the last positive detection (EMIT Cannabinoid Assay - 50 ng/mL) should be somewhere around 720 hrs ~ 30 days. I smoked 2 grams across three days (last contact being exactly 18 days ago). That might qualify as "a one time chronic use" - not sure what lingo refers to what here.

I have consistently tested positive in about 7 home drug screens (spaced about 2 days apart for the last 15 days) using the 50ng/mL cutt off. I am 5'9", 138lbs, that makes my BMI 20.4. I run about 6 miles a week (2 miles thrice a week) and I eat relatively healthy.

I have to take a drug screen in about 12 days and I need to pass it. Loading up my body on chemicals (naicin and what-nots) is not an option for me, I just simply can't take the risk of intoxicating my liver. Life is too precious, even for employment purposes.

I am being pro-active and asking for any safe ways to ensure that I pass the test. (Am sure it's going to the the EMIT with a 50ng/ML cutoff test).
It's a medical physical, so substitution is out of the question. I could try dilution, not sure how effective that is without the risk of the sample being rejected.

That goes to show that these so-called "cleanout timetables" should never be relied upon because they are almost always off the mark. Each persons body is different and there are too many variables to be taken into consideration in order to produce an accurate timetable. Thats why it has been pointed out that periodic testing with a THC test kit will give the best answer as to when an individual will finally test "clean".

You are exactly right Burnt Toast, those clean out timetables are like weather forecasts, and should not be trusted without any empirical supporting data.
Through research, I've come to realize that marijuana metabolites are very notorious when it comes to eliminating them from your body. Your best friend is time (they will eventually be metabolized and excreted out of your system). Other than that, everything else really is a hit-or-miss. Some people report that exercising works for them, some take vitamins and what-nots to boost their metabolism, yet others take alarming quantities of vitamin B3 (Niacin, nicotinic acid) that might actually cause hepatotoxicity - chemical driven liver damage.

I would suggest that getting clean varies from person to person and if you have a drug test coming up, it is your responsibility to know your own body and pre-test yourself before taking it.

Not to judge anyone, but people smoke for different reasons. If you are on probation or your career requires some kind of testing, safest thing for you is to either abstain completely or be proactive in knowing how long it takes your body to get rid of whatever is being tested for (THC,11-Hydroxy-THC and 11-nor-9-Carboxy-THC).

Good luck to everyone and thanks for an engaging discussion.

It's ridiculous no more! I am happy to report that after 20 days, I am now testing negative on the 50ng/mL home test kit (This was the very first test I did when I woke up). With 10 days to go before my drug screen, I am now 100% confident that I will pass it. I will however continue to judiciously test myself every 2 days just to be sure I get consistent results. I will post back here if anything comes up positive.
