I have 2 2ft fluros in some cheap soil with mixed in perlite. My lighting is 48/6. I have it in a self watering pot I give it a VERY small amount of miracle grow once every 2 days then fill the rest of the bottom spout with water, hince the self watering plant. The plant drinks as it needs to.

Thats called lazy man hydroponics, as i like to call it. ive never heard of anybody using a 48/6 light cycle, seems kind of odd. I wouldnt be surprised if your plant turned hermaphrodite, or male, but if it doesnt, rite on, you will probably be the first! I wouldnt recommend using Miraclo Gro, seeing as how its mainly chemically oriented, but if your a beginner, i guess its fine! BTW, if you are using tin foil, i hope you know it only reflects at a 40% ratio. Mylar, or Flat white paint have been proven to be the best reflective material.
