First grow tent setup help!

Starting with a 30x18x36 tent (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00725X7I8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) and not too sure if I have the 'right' or necessary parts to successfully grow some plants.

my shopping cart consists of:

A 4" fan (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JQ14F8/ref=gno_cart_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1TQQ4ZHI2444B) to use as an intake on the bottom of the tent

Exhaust (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005GJ7TFE/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2WRS4X4C0GMOQ) on the side of the tent

400w HPS+MH Light Kit (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DO30MI/ref=gno_cart_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AXC6VLRHTOFD2)

Fan Speed Controller

Is this an alright setup for a first grow?

hey man sounds good to me :) but you will need a fan for the inside to get the air moving around in the tent :)

in a 2.5' x 1.5' x 3' tent?
yea that's just insane.... I would suggest to get a bigger tent. at least a 4x2x6

why he can just hold them short ? and grow in what he has :) i have seen this size then with a 400watt he tire the plants down and kep them really short but he got amazing buds

but if you have the money then buy a bigger tent to :) and you can kep your clones and small plants in that tent you have :)

Thanks! So is the intake fan necessary? How strong of a fan should be inside?

hey man yes all that you have showed at the top is necessary fan for Exhaust a fan for intake and a fan inside the tent to move the air around :) and the only thing you should buy more then that is a bigger tent and a termometer :) to mesure the heat :) and you are ready to go :D

well the problem would mainly be, the footprint and space a HID setup and the rest of your gear
heat can be fixed with a " HPS cool tube " type of reflector in a space that small (search around)

3 ft tall. take into consideration. the lamp will take up space, the pots & dirt will take up space
so that will leave you with about 1- 1.5 ft space vertical to grow.

T5 HO lamps have a small vertical foot print, 1-3 inches depending on the fixture
LED lamps also have a small vertical footprint
CFL lamps are bulky
HID lamps are also bulky

its all depends on your needs!
