Hi everyone,

I am just beginning to learn of the amazing potential cannabis oil has for health and healing.

I want to attempt making my own as is always suggested.

What I want to know is how the potency of Rick Simpsons oil compares with regular essential oil distillation without the use of napth or alcohol.

Seems the dangerous part of this are the fumes released burning off the alcohol.

I would like to avoid this danger if possible and again would like to hear from someone knowledgable about the difference in potency of these two different methods.

Can regular oil distillation be as medically powerful as Rick Simpsons oil?

Thank you!!

Good question!
As I understand it, most essential oils are extracted using steam.
A great way to extract aromatics, terpenes, flavors, etc.

There are caveats:

"The downside of distillation is the fact that heat is used in this extraction method, which makes it totally unacceptable for use on very fragile material, or where the oils are extracted with great difficulty.

When this method of extraction is applied, great care has to be taken with the temperature and length of exposure of the heat to prevent damage to the oils."

I also wonder about de-caboxylization and oxidation with the heat and air involved.

It's time someone tries it and posts the results.

I can not answer your question, so I'll just sit here quietly and wait for someone who can.

Um, wait, that could take a long time.
Mo' betta I get to googling and see if this has been answered elsewhere.

I'll get back to ya.

Well, cheese and onions!
There's plenty of information out there;

Thanks for asking the right question.
