First grow, outdoors

Alright so this is my first time I've ever tried to grow cannibis, I planted the seed in a cornfield by my house on July 3 seven days after it popped out and I have been keeping tabs on it and watering it since, the bottom two newest leaves recently yellowed and died after that I fertilized it lightly and it seems to have kept the rest of te plant healthy, I'll try and post some pics soon, any suggestions on what else I should do?

Also it's only about 5 inches tall and has a few amount of leaves and has a long stem ( sorry can't figure out how to get pics up), should it be taller then that

The first set of (round leaves) all ways die. Be careful not to over fertilize . Read recommended dose. Keep soil moist, and good luck.

They need direct sun and lots of it, corn grow roots that the plant can't compete with and when you feed it the corn will steal the food.
