Hey i am considering starting growing my own lil crop but i have no experience although ive been reading alot about it. its hard to get proper grass here. we only get resin where i live. ive never seen grass in real life. i have a few Q's if anyone could answer any of them?

1. Which part of the plant do u cut off and smoke? is it the leaves? i thought it was only buds on the female plants.

2. After u have harvested ur crop..(how ever u do that)..is that the plant dead or will more buds grow back shortly?

3. Where can i get seeds for growing plants that dont grow higher than 12 inches or so. im growing indoors and my parents also live here.

4. Anyone know any good websites that have pictures to help along with the growing process or help on growing indoors cheaply....im only 18 :D

Hey

Il be happy to give you my list of what to do with growing. Its all the basics and im pretty shure youl find some interesting stuff in it.

-try to find a simple shop light (fluorecent ballast) about 48" long (24" is a bit small but you can have good results) , in it put 2 fluorecent tubes labeled "daylight". If you dont find any dont panic, you can also search for cool white, they are cheaper but do the same job. 80 watts for growing is maybe the minimum for a good grow
-Buy black soil. If there is tropical plant soil take it, this is the one i use and its very good. If you dont find tropical soil just use garden soil, dont complicate yourself with magic grow soil or anithing like that use ordinary soil
-Use the biggest pot, about 8 to 10" deep and 10" wide. If you give the plant enought water she should not die.( people say about root strangling but i had a friend that had 2 plants in a 3x4" pot and they grew 5'7" hight :)
-When you water the plant dont flood it, just poor enought water to put the soil moist. In that way you should avoid drowning of the plant.
-Dont complicate yourself with fertilising. Because if you use not enought your plant does nothing and too much your plant dies. Wait until you get more experienced and then star fert your plant (you can also read about ferts, this is the best way to learn)
-This is something that works: 1rst growers are always near their plant. Well Ms mary-jeane doesnt like that. Let her alone, dont toutch it eather (unless you what to harvest it ;)
- Never water more that one time per day
-Put a timer on the fluos so you will have a regular photoperiod
-when you whant the plant to bud, set the timer on 12/12: 12 hours of light and 12 hours of night. This will force the plant to bud.
-use a litle fan to keep the air moving so your plant will have enought fresh air
-You can cover the walls of the grow room with aluminium foil so the light will be reflected on the plant (the more light she get the better she is) you can use emergency thermal blankets
-keep the fluos about 2" from the top of the plant
-Use a pot deaper that 10cm. This is why: when the plant starts growing, she starts to grow a root that goes 10 cm deep in the soil. If you have a small pot lees than 10 cm deep, the plant wont grow at full potency. So use a 15 to 20 cm pot in hight and about 15 to 20 cm wide this should be just enought to grow a healthy plant. If you give enought water to the plant she should grow about 5 feet tall or higher
-Use a well drained soil. You can mix 50% vermiculite whith 50% pearlite and some sphagnum moss. But you can use just ordinary dirt, i use tropical plant dirt and it works just fine for me (it contains a lot of nutrients, mineral salts etc)
-For the harvest there something: when the buds are starting, watch closely the trichomes (you will recognize them by their mushroom like form, its a tiny filament with a drop of resin on top of it. You can see it with a 30x magnafying glass.) They will indicae when to harvest. How? well when they are clear the plant is not ready, and when they are milky the plant is ready. But you can wait until they are 30% amber and 70% milky, so you can harvest at diffrent times to have diffrent results.
-When you harvest some buds, hang them upside down in a dark place (light degrades THC in the resin) Let them dy for about 2 to 3 days. To see if they are corecly dry, just bend the branch that comes out of the bud, if it just bends, let it dry a litle longer, if it snaps its ready
-To store your harvest just use a Mason jar. Just gently press the buds in it and let the pot in a cool dark place (the temperature is not a priority). If you are patien and like good tasting buds and add more potency you will be glad to store them. Buds is like a good wine: the longer you store it, the better it tastes.
To determine the sex of the plant you must be patient. When your plant haves a photoperiod of 12 hours of light and night after 2 to 3 weeks (it depends on the strain of the plant some plants bud early and some late). Then after this time you should see at the steem of the plant some litle "balls" appearing. When the "balls" haves 2 white strings coming out of it its a FEMALE. But if the "balls" doesn't have strings coming out or if its opens upside down and looks like an umbrella its a male. But be careful: if you have a male that spills its pollen and there is a female that is mature you can have seeds (if you would like to have seeds its ok but if you want to do something els white the plant :) then you should remove the male froem the grow room or just kill it).

This is a short description of the fluos

-Wide spectrum is a SUPPLY of light and not a growing fluo (you dont need this to start your plants, if you want some new fluos in the grow room or more fluos, they can help, but its not the best

-Cool spectrum: I makes a nice green foliage, very good for vegetative stage, they are great for growing you sprouts and they stimulates your plant to make more side branches

-Warm spectrum: they will make very thik steams and braches, makes your plant much more solid and they will make more bigger buds to your plants, they oare better for Flowering stage.

With this im shure that you will have a good grow.

This is some pics of my plants.....you can see the buds, and on it, you can see the trichomes (litle droplets of resin on the plant), this is where the THC is stoked (tetrahydrocannabinol or delta-9...there is 61 diffrent cannabinoids and therpens... :) ).

So thats it see ya :p

P.S: i don't have the budjet to afford a powerful lamp to flower...and the plant was planted in febuary and started to flower even on 18/6...i hate it when it does that...anyway...the buds are small but looks kind of good...i give it at least 1 week and il chop the thing up and we will se ;)

Umm, some corrections required to the last post. Do NOT use soil, use compost - compost & soil are 2 totally different things, compost is a growing medium for pots, with more minerals & nutrients than soil, because plants growing outdoors in soil have root systems that cover tens of square feet, while root size is limited in pots - general all-purpose potting compost is fine, John Innes #3 is probably the best non-organic compost for herb. Don't pot in large pots, pot in small pots & repot once the roots start to show through the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot - this allows the root system to make the most of the limited pot space, to give a compact root ball. Always use fertilizer, the compost, although having more nutrients than soil, still doesn't have enough, and if you don't fertilize (any houseplant fertilizer will do for vegging, and tomato fertilizer for flowering - use the directions on the packet - you may also need magnesium, herb goes Mg deficient very easily, but a teaspoon of epsom salts in a litre of water a couple of times during the grow will sort that). Use more than 'a little fan' - the most important thing for herb (or any plant) after light & water is carbon dioxide - if you don't have a decent extractor fan to remove 'used' air & pull in fresh, your plants won't give you anything like their full yield. If you like couch lock, don't harvest until most of the trichomes have gone amber - that shows that the THC is converting to CBD - the chemical in herb that acts as a sedative. Don't switch to 12/12 until the branches begin to alternate (not form opposite each other on the stem) - the plant is not fully mature til then - again, this will affect yield. When drying, 2-3 weeks is more realistic, not 2-3 days (don't force dry, use heat, or a fan - this makes the herb harsh), then put the bud in airtight jars for another 2-3 weeks at least - this is called curing, and is essential for a good smoke (most commercial bud is cut too early & not cured, which is why it can be a twitchy, paranoid high - properly matured & cured herb is relaxing & smooth, not pokey & harsh)

Oh, and don't use tinfoil for reflectors, it's shit. If you've got the cash use mylar, if not, either paint your grow space with matte white paint (matte, not gloss, matte reflects light better), or use flat white plastic. I repeat, don't use tinfoil, it's useless.

Booyeah Boojum! Right on the money! It's amazing some of the BS you read in posts, (and even more amazing that people buy into it and try some of the bizzare stuff). There should be more folk like you helping out his fellow man.

Pulpdog, Do yourself a favor and read other post by Boojum.

lol, will do. theres so many faqs and so many different methods. some ppl say use tinfoil, some ppl say dont. ive heard that the non shiny side of tinfoil is good (the back of it, slighter duller) stops the light concentrating on parts of the leaf.

now i just gotta get me some seeds. can i just buy a bag of grass from my dealer and see if there are any seeds in it? i wanna get a nice plant thats smallish but maybe a hybrid sativa/indica because they have the "high dizzy" stone as well as the "laid back sleepy" stone apparently, is that rite? i was told that White Widow is a good beginnner seed to plant? any thoughts guys?

Hey

Boojum....you sound like a big grower who says: biger and more $$$...im i wrong? correct me if i am. The tips i suggest here is the BASICS of growing cannabis....these are not for use in hydroponic systems or big comercial growers...OK? If a dude wants to grow a potent bud with the less money possible and the less space possible...or just a personal grower (like me..i grow only for me and not for others) weel these tips are for them. Compost soil may be good but the dirt is not the only source of nutrients...lights are also a source. COmpost is good indeed. And its better to grow in only one pot..one big pot. Transplantation for beginners can be deadly for the plant...remember that firsts time growers have not the experience as we have, long time growers.

See ya and peace
