Too prune or not to prune. If there was a definitive answer to that question I would gladly tell you. Photos, info on grow area (indoor, outdoor, lighting, size of room, soil, hydro...), number of plants would all be factors to consider.
There are many schools of thought here and everyone will say their way is best and have reasons to back it up. My suggestion is to read up on the different styles of growing to find what best suits your grow. You will answer most of your questions by simply reading the sticky posts in the various forums.

thanks built2spill ...
i am doing some research along the way.. kinda winged it when i started lol !! i took some measurments today, named my three plants and got the schedule written down that i have been on.. I named them Eenie , Meenie , Minee ( and when i start my other three seeds gunna name them Moe, CatchAh, and Tiger ) .. anyway Eenie is only 9 inches tall, and Meenie is 15 inches tall, and Minee is 16 inches tall ( i tried to train it.. didnt go so well so i stopped its kinda funny looking for the moment while it straightens back out )

Lets see if I got this right.. first picture is at about a month old maybe? anyway took these other photos a few days ago hope it looks ok.. like i said i am just winging it. not a whole lot of money so hopefully here in the near future i can get me some pvc pipe to make a exhaust fan for temp control.
Don't Laugh ... LOL !! :stoned:

I think it's worth investing in reflective material. Its cheap but will give you good returns. Also something you can fold away easily and/or keep or future grows

Nice, for a budget grow, I like. a couple suggestions.
yea dont prune these guys, they would need much more green growth
you need a fan in there, to blow some air around this will, make the stems stronger.
also if you hang you lights from above, they will emit more usable light. or you could get a couple sidways light adapters for a few bucks
cheap cake/ buffet pans from your local grocery store work well as reflectors, for a few bucks. also cheap
but typically weed can nearly grow in any condition
keep it up. lookin good

Thanks dude will look into those suggestions.. ran into a budget crisis this month so no left overs for my babies.. i am hopefully going to be able to add a small fan some better reflective material and a couple more lights.. i have one that is on the floor to the side of the plants and one that is hanging.. not best light set up but it is definately working.. i am in the end hoping to build my own grow closet out of canvasey material, some pvc piping, some reflective material a small exhaust system..
I have a spare bedroom that is being used for storage that i plan on turning into a indoor garden next year.. sooo with that and my two closets hopefully next year i wont have to rely on anyone but myself.. am slowly working towards self sustainability :stoned:

i think those curly ones are dead leaves i might have forgot to pull off.. for some reason all the bottom leaves of the plants died.. i am using a tomato nutrients thingie.. but i cut it to about half water half nutrients.. maybe i need less of a mixture or something .. not sure..

cool hell yea use what you got at your disposal... no doubt.
i built my little setup with pvc pipe, to hang the lights, then i can also clip more lights on the sides to it, as the grow escalates. Its also setup so i can raise & lower the lights as needed this is (key actually)
i usually start with 4-6 lights in the veg stage for about 4-6 plants untill they hit about 1 1/2- 2ft tall. then i add more light, and eventually swap the bulbs out & start to flower when they are ready.
here is what my rig looks like.
so being that i had my lights a little more spread out. i could move the lights a little closer. which would promote more bushy than tall plants. unless you got some crazy OG strain that will try to touch the sky
cost about 20-40 bucks to build + cost of bulbs, and im so stoked at the results. I researched this for about 6 months before i got back into it. this is prob my 8th grow over a 20 years span.
until cfl's came out onto the market i always got crappy results. since MH & HPS were crazy expensive back then ( i never used ) ,. now adays CFl's give them a run for thier money. and way way less heat too!
and the whole thing with the reflector getting hot.. ha forget it.. dont wory about it.. unless your using 200w & 300w cfl bulbs then it may be a concern. as long as u got a fan in there blowing air around. your good to go.. I have my fan blowing on the lights actually, and im in a similar space to yours 4x4x8, the air circulates enuph and moves the plants around to stregnthen them.
actually on your setup, what i would do ,, is take out 2 bulbs from each cluster. and put 1 bulb in each corner of your grow space, about a half foot lower than your hanging above lights. this should give you an good steady even light array.
