Help Questions? First grow ever .

this is my first grow ever, I haven't started yet just built the set up and bought the minerals and I have a few questions before I begin.
just trying to get the best results, this is a personal grow just one maby two plants. heres the list of what I have.

SEEDS - Blue Mystic indica/sativa Autoflowering

GROW SPACE SPECS - all aluminum trash can. (I thought it would be very reflective and cheap)
its 18"w X 26h"
we cut a hole in the top for the light and one on the bottom for the fan and one in the top side for ventilation, and I made a little shield out of card board to help push the air around like a tornado. (or at least I think it will?)

LIGHTS - 1/5000k LED (top light) . 3/15w soft white (side bulbs mounted at 13'' from the bottom)

SOIL - Miracle Gro. seed starting potion soil

MINERALS - Scotts all propose flower/veg 10-10-10 , Maxicrop liquid fish trees,flowers,lawns,veg 5-1-1

the questions I have are.
is the space big enough for two plants?
is the set up ok? (lights,space,fan,food, ext.)

Personalty I'd ditch the miracal grow. I've never seen a grow in a can, you will have a hard time keeping it cool and getting enough air moving through then you need it light proof. Have you checked out grow tents?

no I haven't . this is my first grow what should I use as soil? and that's why I went with the LED it has a lot lower heat. ive kept the set up running all day to check and see how hot it gets . it stays around 80 degrees and the air seems to move pretty well but then again that fan really blows

Hello ChiefN you need to lose the mg/scotts it's from Monsanto. Enough said??? I am a MMJ patient in CO and just started my first grow a little over a month ago. I live on a tight budget so affordability is an issue in my grow feel free to check it out.

You can find tents online cheap new or used, I purchased a used one and repaired it with some black duct tape and some stitching. You will need a light tight or completely dark room to flower in or you run the risk of hermies.

oh I see why your saying light tight. let me explain my location is in my storage closet underneath my stairs in my house it is completely light proof in there I keep a flashlight just for when I go in there its so dark. so I think I should be fine there. due to the placement of my grow can?

I replaced the 15w bulbs with 60w halogen , my real question is about the space and light set up if ill have enough room for 2 plants v.s 1 ? and if my lighting will work for the entire grow or should I change for flowering? and if I change what should I go with for light?

Chief, Your concerned with heat and you change to halogen??? That light is all heat and not much help for a grow bulb.

Ditto, Dabs... please don't support Monsanto (Scotts, Miracle Grow) Maxicrop makes very good products though.

Trash can = bad idea IMHO (way too much heat build up) secondly soil is pretty easy to amend when buying Canadian peat, organic manure & perlite. Actually much cheaper just a bit of work to mix up. Monsanto is EVIL & evil produces a bad buzz. Why not figure out a way to grow without the can unless of course looking into stealth? Peace

the can is for stealth , and price point . ya I noticed the halogens get hot as hell . what light for the side would be good and avail. at walmart, homedepot ,lows ext ??? forgive me im new to this and don't have any personal friends with experience to help all the knowledge im getting is from this website and a lot of google. LOL. any help with lighting would help a lot. can someone recommend a good top light for flowering or should I keep my LED for the whole process??? . sorry for all the stupid questions but then again id rather ask a bunch of dumb questions first then burn my plant up later...

I have looked into some smaller lights on the sides and am thinking of going with Utilitech 7.5watt LED 450lumens ea. OR Utilitech 13w 5000k CFL 900 lumens ea. im just wondering which would be better for heat ??? and ive looked up some different food and soil . Fox Farms Tiger Bloom and Alaskan deodorized fish fertz. ???? any feed back would be GREATLY accepted.:jointsmile:

Since youre looking to be stealth, I would go find a good place in the woods. You can buy cheap battery operated drip systems that would take care of the watering. But you will have to go out there every so often to feed them ferts and spray them for pests. Fox farm makes good products but most of them arent organic and they tend to fry your plants until you really dial in the dosage amount. In my opinion you have a better chance out there than in this trashcan thing. Best of luck to you. Peace.
