I should have a job offer coming next week. It's a fairly high level position (i.e. Vice President level).

I was a regular smoker of medical grade marijuana. I smoked daily for probably 2 years. I took 2 weeks off at the beginning of April but smoked again daily until June 1st when I discovered that they did hair follicle testing. Actually, the job opportunity came about unexpectedly otherwise I would have quit earlier.

I normally wear my hair short anyway (usually #3 clipper) so I saw no harm in shaving my head with a #1 guard on June 3. I did my interviews with the hair shaved short.

Like I said, the official offer should come this week so I can draw it out until next week before I have to give a response. We've also discussed how long I'll need to give my current employer so I figure I'll have another 3 weeks at a bare minimum (2 weeks notice + 1 week delay accepting).

Basically, that will give me approx a month and a week clean with about similar length of hair growth. Though, I could draw the time out another 2 weeks telling them I need to offload my work at the current employer. That would put me at around 7 weeks from the last use.

I would be relocating for the job so I can probably work that into another week or two to get my affairs in order. That gives me 8 - 9 weeks clean and about 8 - 9 weeks of hair growth.

Obviously, this plan goes all to hell if they suggest flying in sooner for the day to get the "formalities" out of the way :-)

Currently, my hair is a little over 1/4 inch with a tad less than 2 weeks since cutting. That sounds about right as I didn't shave to the skin and hair grows on average 1/2 inch per month. Though, my hair has always grown on the quick side so I'm probably averaging a tad over 1/2 incha month. I'm also taking all sorts of B vitamins, Folic Acid, Zinc, etc to give my hair every chance to grow.

The first week after cutting my hair I applied a baking soda paste nightly for about 20 minutes, rinsed, and then slapped some Clean & Clear (2% salicylic acid) for another 20 - 30 minutes, and then washed everything out with Paul Mitchell III clarifying. I also did the same each morning except I washed my hair with the PM III immediately after the baking soda paste and then slapped on the Clean & Clear leaving the C&C on when I went to work (it actually smells pretty good on a nearly bald head LOL).

I've considered doing the Jerry G method but I'm going a bit grey (pretty grey on the sides) and I'm seriously in doubt that anybody is going to be able to dye me back to anything even remotely natural looking.

If I can get 8 weeks clean, give it a slight trim just to clean up anything that was still poking above the skin and still pushing up when I shaved it with the #1, what are the chances they'll let me just give a little less than 1"? In theory all of that hair should be clean, right?

Any recommendations on other treatments I can try? Other than daily use of Paul Mitchell III my only other planned treatment at the moment is to do a Zydot session the day of the test (or as close as possible to the test since I may be starting before I'm told to report for the test).

I understand that AloeRid Treatment (if I can find it) with propylene glycol might open up the shafts. Would that plus a follow up wash with PM III be a good for stripping the cortex? Does baking soda have high enough pH to really open up the shaft? I understand that Milk of Magnesia has a considerably higher pH (8.3 Baking Soda, 10.5 MofM). Anybody try that?

I'm also a little confused because in the Jerry G method he says that bases open up the cuticle but I've seen some of the same people who recommend Jerry G's method also recommend applying acids to the hair (salicylic or vinegar) for doing the same thing for those who for whatever reason cannot do the bleach/dye cycle. Any advice/research on the effectiveness of acids vs. bases?
