View Full Version : Clones for hydro?

I know this is probably one of the single dumbest questions anyone's ever posted, but I did look around and I couldn't find anything on it! I've been growing for awhile and have shared my clones over time...I'm growing by myself now and pruning is producing so many clones that I've decided to really try and make an effort to expand that area of my op.

Here's the issue though...I've donated to dispensaries and co-ops, private patients who grow, etc. but I just recently had the first person ask me for clones for hydro or aero. I usually give people clones that I've put into dirt in Solo cups.

How the heck do I prepare clones for hydro? I don't know how to deliver them to the guy. I'm sure he doesn't want them in dirt....help!

Beer bottles are ideal!

The brown ones are excellent cloners.
Fill them with fresh tap water daily.
(The Chloramine acts as a fungicide and prevents "slime root")

Hold them next to the plant, then snip n dip.
Put them under low light and hand them out when they root.

I used to do them this way for hydro.
Went back to coco but I still clone in water, then pot 'em when ready.

lol so I should take them out of the cloner and present them to the guy who donated for them in a beer bottle? hmmmm not sure that's exactly my style.

Reading comprehension problem, or humor?

The beer bottle IS the cloner.

Or, Champagne bottles for elite cuts.
And Dasani water bottles wrapped in duct tape for common clones. :)

Maybe on your end? Guess I could have been MORE clear, but I thought I was clear that normally I present clones in solo cups filled with dirt. I was asking how to DELIVER them to someone who wants them for hydro or aero, NOT dirt.

I wasn't asking how to turn a cutting into a clone, sorry. I know how to do that and thought that was clear when I said that I've done it before. Looking at my original post, it does seem clear that I've done that before, since I said I did. I have an aeroponic cloner with 120 spots in it. I'm not gonna use a beer bottle when I have that.

But thanks for trying.

Weezard has forgotten more about growing than either of us will ever know. I think he was talking about transporting them in the bottles. He also says that you can just clone in them if you wanted to. Im not trying to put words in anyones mouth, just trying to break it down for ya.

Here's a little something I copied from stinkyattic, "You know those DIY popsicle things they sell at the dollar store, that you are supposed to pour fruit juice in, put the cover/stick thing on, and freeze? They are ideal for transporting clones. Cut the stick part off with tinsnips and just use the drip-catcher cover thing.
Or Google "50 mL screw cap centrifuge tube PTFE". Perfect size!!! "

Thanks, pushit. That's exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to know if people generally expect them to be presented a certain way, etc.

The confusion came in when he said "The beer bottle IS the cloner" I don't need to clone in a beer bottle, they're already rooted and ready to go. I figured I'd just stick 'em in a solo cup with WATER instead of DIRT, but I wasn't sure and I've never purchased clones before or grown hydro.

So yeah, I was serious when I said that presenting a clone that I've sold in a beer bottle isn't exactly my style. I've been in business for over 15 yrs. (not this, but other industries) and I just tend to do things a bit more officially and professionally. I wouldn't be impressed if I showed up to buy a clone and it was in a beer bottle. *shrug* All the dispensaries I've seen that carry clones have them in Solo cups and that's how they requested that they be delivered as well.

As for WHO the guy is who answered me, I honestly don't care...and not in a bad or disrespectful way, but in a true "people are people and no one is any better than anyone else" way. No, I don't know who he is but he doesn't know who I am either. I interact with people the same way, regardless of whether they are a bum or a CEO. I don't think my response to him was rude. He told me how to clone and that wasn't what I'd asked.

He's also the one who started with the insults :) I don't have defective comprehension or humor, I just didn't comprehend it or find it funny that someone told me to clone in a beer bottle when I was asking for how to transport clones.

Hope everyone has a great day. I'd hoped this forum would be helpful, fun, etc. but from all the "banned" people I keep seeing and stuff, guess I'll go back to just inactive participation. I'm not interested in chest beating or being insulted.

I wonder if you could use, maybe should say reuse prescription pill bottles.

Weezard- do wish to say, don't think of any more good reasons to make plastic water bottles, there's to many already. I made same choice regarding disposable diapers.

Peace out dude. Later

No worry cousin.
We're on the same page.
The Duct taped Dasani was a joke of course.
The picture of the "Milk of Amnesia" cut was the suggestion.

See, we live island style.

Every plastic beer cup has to be shipped from somewhere, yah?
Used and tossed?
We gonna run out of room pretty quick!

That's why we no use , um, formal containers. :)
Everything gets recycled and re-used many times.
Then, gets sold to the reclaimers to go around one mo' time again.

So, our books have all kine covers.
Some less appetizing than the others.

When a Local offers you a cutting in grimy cola can?
It could be something special, I think you understan'. ;)

My best advice, is to gracefully accept.
Those strains that I was given are the ones that I have kept.

We are all ohana here, da Island is our mother.
It's a warm and friendly place, where everyone's your brother.

It's like living in a tiny village, there are no secrets, so not much crime.
And every keikei has a thousand Aunts and Uncles looking out for them.
Too spoiled now to ever live on the mainland again. :)

Got it. I feel that vibe, believe me...I'm in WA state and I'm the kinda person who cooks ALL of my food from scratch, even bread. I don't use paper products in my house and I was a founding member of environmental club in high school haha I get reduce/reuse/recycle. I guess when it comes to this, I'm a bit girlie though. Maybe tying a ribbon around the beer bottle would make me feel better about it lol I really do appreciate all the replies though, honestly.

I would tell him to just rinse off the dirt from the roots very carefully and plant right away. The plants will be just fine. I've done it before with no problems.
