DP not sure if its a light thing but those trichs in the 1st pic look mint! hey mal, looking good man! thats alot of trichs already and the pistols still looking white! may sound daft but is that a sativa strain? iv noticed a difference in trichs formation between sativa n indica ( could just be me strains iv picked tho lol) either way, looking good

thanks all! Dutch those pics are sweet. i can take pics with my scope but i need to find a good way to hold it still, its crazy jumpy.
as far as the strain, its a mix of sativa and indica for sure. beyond that i only know it comes from northern mexico.
those trichs are on this plant

291286 looks pretty much indica dom

funny thing is this plants seed came from the same bud cluster(middle plant)

291287

it has both sorta.

it does seem like it has some cruising time i see mostly clearish trichs and maybe 1 in 300 amberish in the scope so far but time will tell.

she does look indica dominate doesn't she, i wonder as she gets older her characteristics change? how old is she? i only asked coz every plant that iv had thats been sativa dom my trichs all looked like urs in that pic, where as my indica dom ones were thicker, lol if you get what i mean.

absolutely, those are all 12 weeks tomorrow...well 8 weeks veg and 4 weeks flower. the buzz feels sorta sativa like in that i get wicked high heart rate for the first 15 mins. then it eases off into smooth head/body buzz. cant wait to see what its like when its fresh and not been trash compacted and passed thru a hundred people hands :stoned:

:D

I hear that!
I'm guessing that you will be pleased.

To take the shake out of the scope, I just attached the scope to my desk.
(Wedged it in the top drawer, pointing up)
Then I put a piece of glass on it and put the buds on the glass.
I plug the 'scope's video into the hi-def TV screen
Poke the bud around and fiddle with the focus until it's jus' right.

Then, when I take the snap there's no "button shake" to screw it up.
They come out looking semi-pro:

Handheld. I really dig photography, but haven't played with microscope stuff since a kid and that was too long ago. Might have to relearn. If I ever get the chance, I'd love to do a real "porn" session with the girls. Need to get them out of the tent, set up some real lighting and stuff. Work and stuff, not enough time for the fun. And when I say girls and porn at the same time, I'm talking plants, not that shit on the news, dammit.

Here's "Medusa." It took me about 2 hours to get this picture - lots of digital darkroom; I call it "art" but no embellishments -- it's a real photo (focus stacking takes time). I'd like to blow it up poster size and hang it in my office at work, but that would probably get me fired.

This is Laverne (her friend in the tent is Shirley). Laverne popped out of the ground March 3rd and went into the 12/12 cycle on 4/28, so she's about two and a half weeks into flower. And man, do these plants have a lot of flowers. Not big (yet), but lots of them. Plant height today is about 26".

Plant is Mazar X (feminized) White Rhino from World of Seeds. My first grow. So far, so good.

That was taken with a Nikon D7000 using a 60mm 2.8D Micro Nikkor lens on a focusing rail. Composite of about 45 shots. Stacked using Zerene stacker.

Beautimous!! I love the colors.

Mal420xl
05-25-2013, 01:15 PM
yeah the i havent really messed around too much yet so the color was by luck and leds. another day or so some will have some more good purple showing. the one with the white top is as green as it ever was. the other 3 all are showing purple on the leaves and buds. weird. a 7000 nice. way too much camera for me. i looked at those too but got a 5200 and its still a huge learning curve from the old pentax 35mm i have. i used a 40mm f/2.8g micro, no rails. set it up with control pro2 and let controlmynikon take the stack. it works nice and quik but it is a lil sloppyish compared to humans. still works nice. i used zerene to stack them too. i'll get it right eventually once i spend more time with it.

You'll love the 5200 -- that's a great rig. I grew up with Pentax 35mm gear and got a D80 when it first came out (my first DSLR) and had to have the 7000 when it came out. Love it. I had to look at controlmynikon -- hadn't seen that before. Cool! I'll have to put that on the laptop and try it out. In theory, that should give a more accurate focus stack than doing it manually (but adding a computer to control it will be a minor inconvenience).

Mal420xl
05-26-2013, 12:37 AM
well controlmynikon doesnt seem to have a manual focus control and nikon control pro 2 does but doesnt have stacking that i can find anyway, so i use them both. until that changes. its also a little weird with live view but its an awesome program for the doh. i still love film tho dont know if that will ever change.

Ok, the color change you watch for occurs, not on the "hairs" but on the crystals when looked at under magnification, do you just look at top or average the plant, in deciding pick time.

Mal420xl
06-01-2013, 10:21 AM
if you look at the pic just above your post, its the little water tower shaped things or mushroom if that makes it easier. they turn an amber color.

tlranger
06-01-2013, 02:01 PM
If I go back to weezard pics posts, and your own modified tripod pics, I can see your mushroom shapes.
(The most magnification I've used in ahh my years is my 2x reading glasses, and I need them now days just to trim, and read this board.)

Back to topic, your shapes are what I see as sparkle or Crystal? Stupid question, I know, but I'm trying. When you see this color change, on a magnified level. I assume it is most evident on the top and matures from the top down? In my perpetual garden, I'll take a top and let the bottom get better. But in the tent I'm thinking, clean it out, when the time is right.

Mal420xl
06-01-2013, 02:25 PM
yeah exactly it looks like sugar been sprinkled on it. trichs are just like the leaves they form on, the older they are the more you will see amber on them. newer growth will have newer trichs so they will be clear or milky.
there is no "rule" except your own. when the over all average is showing a fair percentage of ambering, thats when i take them unless im looking to keep myself asleep when i cant otherwise then i let them go a bit longer.
mostly clear will get you not much more than a short lived buzz or a headache generally. milky, milky with amber,=yummy. mostly amber means nite nite.
just about any digital camera set to its highest resolution will take a good enough pic to get a better view of the trichs when you enlarge it some.

Couple new pics:

292203292204

I'm glad you guys explained the amber thing with the trichs -- I would be going by the amber in the "hairs" otherwise. Looks like I still have a ways to go, but I'd really like to go into harvest mode within the next two weeks and I'm thinking I'm done with feeding (pH adjusted water from here on out). Think I'll chop a small bud just to dry & try - it's all real sticky. Above all, this growing stuff is a bit of an exercise in patience, no?

Lower leaves looking pretty stressed and haven't seen any vertical growth in over a week. Gotta be getting close, right?

Shovelhandle
06-09-2013, 03:08 PM
They don't look that close to me. Indoor plants usually loose many of their bottom leaves and change colors, like autumn leaves. Gold, yellow, purple, red colors mean senescent, they are dying. Nice green plants like yours are not a good sign that there are ready. If the trichs are ready then you used too much nitrogen during flowering and the smoke may not be the best. I had this happen my last grow. I noticed a real lack of odor and flavor. Your buds look wonderful though, I hope they can finish up nicely.

Thanks, shov. Trichs still look pretty clear to me (right at 6 weeks in flower). Been trying to rush things a bit because if I can't harvest pretty soon, I'm going to have to put the whole thing on autopilot for awhile. I've got a system worked up where I can water the plants automatically (pH adjusted water only, no food). Kind of want to try that anyway.
