Am at day 59 since planting seeds..outcome was 9 sprouts. Am running 1000 w mh with with 7200 kelvins..
...plants have been vegging 16/8 under the mh for 40 days ..
2 are fem auto-flower and 1 of those a sweetooth has been budding for 10 orso days... ..1 ww..and 1 hindu kush have shown female preflowers...1 hindu has shown signs of being male...he is now living outdoors...the remaining four kush
have yet to make up there minds..too soon to tell ...my question is...is it possible for male preflowers to pollenate the female auto flowering budding under 16 hours of llight...or to pollenate the female preflowers...? I have always ran with clones ...my first seed adventure under the lights...is it normal for these plants to be showing preflowers before running 12/12 ?

if the flower produces pollen and there are females near by.....well you know what happens when boys and girls show each other their junk

Also if that bad boy is even close, he can get to those girls through you.

Geeze Shove, don't hold back, tell us how you really feel. :)

@Preyed1
If you have the room, I recommend lemonade.
You make good points about the expense and worry of obtaining seeds.
So, got a female runt?

Send her and that young man to an all expense paid honymoon suite.
Wait about a month.
Hand out a few thousand cigars!
Now, at ~$10 per seed . . . :D

I'm just sayin', I've never regretted rescuing good genetics, yah?

Aloha,
The many-seeded 'zard

Know this is an older thread, but had to bring this up. In the 70's, there was a theory that pollen from pre-flower to pistols of pre-flower produced seeds that would make plants earlier than the parents. While I never believed this, I've never heard any thing to either prove or dis-prove this theory. Since the pre flowers would still have the same genetic make up, I don't see how it would make a difference. Any other opinions?

If it makes pollen or has pistols, how can they be pre-flowers? Are they not then, in actuality, flowers? For example, a petunia that is just about to open is still a true flower and it's parts are all inside. If you want to cross-pollinate or just pollinate the plant with itself, you tape the flower closed then open just enough to add some pollen before taping it sealed again to make sure only the pollen you WANT to have in there get in there. :) I'd think it's the same with cannabis.

Just with these plants, you can't seal off the flower without a plastic bag if you want just the one bit of pollen on it... But if there are pistols it might just be a young flower.

Or are they still considered "preflowers" until fully budding or open? I was thinking that it was a preflower until it showed for sure it's gender in obvious form...

Grow slang. Its a true flower, but they come on a while before the plant starts budding in ernest. They usually form at the internode between a branch & the main stem. Yes, they are capable of breeding. In the 70's, there was a theory that if you pollinated the pre-flowers, (both male & female had to be pre-flowers) the resulting plants from these seeds would be earlier than the parents. The thought was, that if you did this for several generations, you would have a stable strain that was much earlier than its ancestors. Never heard anymore more about it, but since the pre-flowers would have had the same genetics as normal flowers, I never believed this theory to begin with. If it had proven true, I think it would have become a well known mainstay of breeding programs. Kinda like what I said about sour diesel in another post to you, names can be misleading!
---- Ahhh Buggy. It's that analytical mind of yours again, trying to make sense out of something illogical! LOL! GOTTA LOVE YOUR MIND! You have to remember, some of the grow terminology was coined may years ago by people who weren't necessarily literate, & most of these terms stuck. I think it's cute as hell when you go all scientific on 'em! GIRLS STILL RULE!
