View Full Version : 13 Germed & in Soil

Germinated 13, 10 known (Super Sunk) & 3 unknowns. Did the "baby wipe" thingy (cleaned the wipe with regular aqua to rid additives) & left a bit moist placed in foil & placed in trusty gas oven (off of course but even when "off" it still maintains a favorable 80F +). Placed under the fluros & waiting for them to break through. Specifics;
Room: Closet, approx 12 s/ft (capable to raise lighting giving me up to 16)
Soil: 1/3 Canadian Peat, 1/3 Manure, 1/3 perlite.
Containers: 5 oz grow pots
Lighting: 6 40w fluros 24/7
Reflective Material: Mylar coated walls
Distance from lighting: Approx. 2.5 Ft
Basic hygrometer with Temp, RH,
Temp = 74F
RH = 25%

Appears all popped & actually found one in pot from last season. Is it actually worth a shot to save it? Post script, 3 more unknowns have been germed & added to the room. Here's a quick shot of the "bag seed"?

You said that little one was from your last grow? That's pretty cool man. Hell why not try to grow it out with the rest of them. Might have to transplant it sooner than the rest cause it looks pretty packed with the last plants roots. It'll be fun to see how it turns out.

Flouros should be closer than 2.5ft. Lower your lights some and that should fix the stretch.

I run T5 HO (hotter than T-12) and for side lighting I put chicken wire over the lamps so the plants can grow right up to it. No issues at all. Right now the seedlings are about 3-6" under the lamps without problem.

Gave the girls (optimism) their 1st small feed of "Grow Big". Most if not all have at least 5 nodes & think 1 or 2 working on 6. Most are very bushy & a few getting there. Fed a few ml's just to be sure & not burn 'em up. Sided with a little conservative caution that hasn't failed me in the past. Pics are a pain in the arse but will try & post tomorrow. & remember, its all good! Peace be upon you, family & friends

Coming out party. A few of the babies were a tad too close to 1 of my hotter fluros & developed some road rash! Thought it coulda been nute burn but looked at the other half of the grow that wasn't as close & were fine so here they are. Most are getting bushy like the one pic. Getting psyched, envisioning a bright fall.

Most are going outdoors in like a month. Just waiting for the summer solstice. Gonna rock like 3 or 4 indoors. Picked up my Canadian peat, sterile manure & a huge bag of perlite. Was gonna reuse my soil from last grow but needed it for the veggies. Didn't know they made big azz bags of perlite!! Great stuff but kinda toxic to humans if handled w/o gloves.

So, after viewing a few grows that look fab figured out my particular issue or problem (depends on how ya view it) in essence there are multiple thingies on the plate deserving equal attention & this is why the girlies are kinda wimpy! Son, Business ventures, fitness (cuz we ain't hunters & gatherers anymore) & will just eat like Shiite, girl friend, vegetable gardening (enjoy good wholesome sustenance so I don't need to eat veggies with an IV pole attached to keep'm nutritious ='ing energy to thrive) my son, musica so on & so forth {not necessarily in that order but you catch me drift}. So achieving that balance or ☯ if you will there's a balancing act. Need to have that harmony or will collapse. Still in the running just off to a compensated start! In closing I envision a bountiful harvest with All food groups come November.

sorry if you already mentioned this (I just sort of skimmed through the last three pages) but what kinda circulation fans do you have? the reason I ask is because the more wind your plants can handle, the bigger and stronger the stem gets, and the bigger the stem the more weight they can hold, thus " telling" the plant... " Well if my stem is stronger, maybe I should produce some heavier buds" just my two cents. great log by the way!

Won't take much of a timer, to very gradually getting them use to the natural cycle when you set out. Even if you wait to set out it's going to take a while.you want to go slow with change.
Esteban1
06-16-2013, 11:18 AM
Hmmm, so here's where I have issues with change. When we convert from 24/7 or whichever out of veg into 12/12 (inside) there's no "interruption" less artificially changing to flower, correct? So why would an abrupt change from an inside/out be any different sans a natural environment?

Good day Amigo, I purchased some Grandma's Gold Standard molasses today, I couldn't find Blackstripe or whatever it's called. From what I've read the molasses works kinda like Sweet from Botanicare. Here's Botanicare's recommendations for Sweet.
PLANT GROWTH PHASE: SWEET: WATER
Vegetative Phase: 10 ml: 3.78 L (1 Gal)
Transition Phase: 10-15 ml: 3.78 L (1 Gal)
Fruiting & Flowering/Reproductive Phase: 15-20 ml: 3.78 L (1 Gal)
I'm gonna start the molasses on the next watering 1 TSP(15ml) per gallon and continue with ever watering/feeding until I flush. Here's some pix.

Did you have any clues, know your worried about you know what? What genetics are left?
I've been running water from the garden hose for years. Point is, just keep them wet.
Esteban1

Well, genetics play a huge roll in any grow I suppose. Just comparing with last year & had 3/4 herm on me. You can understand the concern. They are mostly all super skunk & if some don't know the history had to bring one indoors x 1 month to help with flowering & she turned out well. All but a couple are looking like last year & getting quite nervous.

Obviously not new to outdoor growing & believe (from previous results) that I will flower 1/2 of the crop to fruition. Seeing the 1st signs of hermaphodism & ok with it. It's a learning phase & now know the genetics of Super Skunk is not conducive to my environment! Live & learn. Still in all am extremely greatful to produce on my own & not dependent on others. Peace

Have 10 & will most likely be down to 5 in the end. Don't get me wrong, extremely fortunate to obtain what, 5-7 lbs of primo bud when dry! Signs are fairly obvious...... Flowering, yea But very slow & kinda mangy in size (not fat). Will shoot some decent pics once the rain lets up. The closet girl is flowering nicely..... again will show a comparison this way ya'll will have an idea of what's going on. Peace

In the future may use 2-3 20 or 30 Gallon smart pots & concentrate on a few. Still up in the air 'bout that. Most definitely looking into a more viable strain that thrives on this environment. Peace

After my battles with spider mites, and the powdery mildew they carry(my opinion). They landed on my wanted dead list, best option so far for results. Hot shot(nuclear option) during veg and first week of bloom.. my line in the sand.

A vapor release insecticide, it is bad shit so care full. Works great is small area,i only use short term veg or early bloom. Just ran some in big green house, on a per plant basis. After two days all we could find was deaders under the leaves.

Checked out your recent album additions, the big buds from this year's grow?
Esteban1
08-16-2013, 11:58 AM
Correct, the girlie with "big buds" would be the one I brought in/out of the "dark room" x 2 weeks (give or take a few days). Also noticing some decent flower growth on like 7 of the 10 plants. 3 are still iffy & could be comprimised (don't wanna throw out the "herm" word cuz some people get a bit bent out of shape) he he. Also redistributed/camouflaged plants on deck (way better). The only thing remaining...... aromatics come October/November! Any ideas? Peace
:jointsmile:
tlranger
08-17-2013, 03:40 AM
Your 2 weeks did the trick, will you harvest that plant sooner, or will the buds be bigger because of increased bloom time?
Had couple of disasters while on last trip, lost last clone run and several in veg room, going to change tactics and do a seed run next, to address your aromas, my freezer got unplugged while I was gone, the result you sure can't seem pot in the outbuildings.
Esteban1
08-17-2013, 11:31 AM
Yea, possibly kick started the flowering process but think if I had waited like most had said it woulda turned out just fine. She is ahead of the game so to speak. Pleased so far..... gather the hard work will pay off? FYI, leaving the fridge off yields a plethora of funk lol

A tad nervous cuz I fed the ladies a bit too much & fried a few leaves. Flushed them out & hopefully will remedy the problem? Question, how much water is required for a good flush? I'm seeing a lot of run off so guessing this is good? Also, when would be the next time to feed?

Had a class one time where we studied plant roots, in nature the root mass vs top mass, most thought it close to equal or maybe more under neith. Growers try to turn that on its head, by supplying what the plant needs, thus less roots out hunting and more energy to top.
In your case, 6 footer outside, in four gallons of dirt, bet it takes a lot of care. But thats why your there.:jointsmile:

Update, fed the girls their last "Beastie Bloomz" feed & will go to the final 3-4 week feed schedule using "Cha Ching". Been using a specific regimented feed arrangement & will follow through until the very end (approx. Last week of October). Also racking me cerebrum about a "Final Flush" & if only just aqua or one of many flush products on the market, ideas? Oh, been doing an INTENSE INSPECTION each morning for disease, pests etc cuz last year a bunch of bugs/eggs spoiled All of the Indica's last year, OUCH!! Found a moth larvae on one of the top flowers. Think nipped in the bud, he he.... Cuz it was almost unnoticeable & if I didn't look close up & personal it may have gone undetected!! It was really small & as green as some of the bud (awesome camouflage)!! Here is a post-mortem shot 294810. Hey, since I caught it in time do ya think I could dry/smoke or is that a "yut" ? Peace
