Hello to all. I'm fairly new to smoking cannabis and have only been doing so for a few months. I'm a 33 year old, female recreational user and probably smoke on average 2-3 times a week. I had not actually ever tried it before January and have not had a lot of experience with it so I've come here to learn more. It has made such a positive impact on my life so far that I wonder how I ever got through without it. I think it may have saved my marriage also. I wasn't judgemental of others for it before, but I just never realized what I was missing. But there was the illegality of it and I didn't often associate that closely with many people who use it. So I'm not maybe a typical cannabis smoker... 2 kids, 7 and 2. But then again, I know all sorts of folks do it, but just not those around me that I knew of. I am a spiritually minded woman who follows God's laws over man's. I figure unjust laws don't require my concern any longer. Not that I want to get caught, but you know how it is... So, well - I guess I don't consider myself a criminal, but a civil disobedient. Anyway... enough rambling. Hi everybody!

Hi and welcome! Do you think smoking has had a positive impact on your life insofar as helping you with health concerns? Or de-stressing your life? I'm just curious. Am going to try it for pain and depression myself soon, and would love to hear from others on how it has been beneficial in their lives.

It's been the right choice for me. I don't have any major health problems, but I do have bouts with depression and I believe it is very helpful for that. I wouldn't go for a prescribed pill for a doctor- I just have concerns about that. So pot is a better option for me for depression. I would say I am way less irritable and more easy-going. I handle stress better now. My relationship has been very difficult at times. But now I don't tend to get so angry. I'm nicer to him and so he is in turn better towards me too. We haven't been fighting and I have more fun with him then I used to (especially when high, but whatever, lol.) It was a lifesavor when I had the flu... felt WAY better. I don't know about health benefits specifically, but I think it can help get a person through a lot.

Thank you very much for your honesty and insight. I haven't smoked in 25 years, but I'm getting ready to grow a few little plants just for me to deal with pain and depression. It's nice to hear from other folks on how helpful it has been for them. (It's a mighty big plunge I'm making being on the conservative east coast...) Doctors have not been a big help for a lot of my problems and they're afraid to prescribe the 'really good' drugs for anyone anymore, there's such fear of abuse and people going around just trying to score drugs. It makes it hard for those of us who really suffer from pain and illness. I've had one doctor tell me I should get electroshock for depression -- no way that! For get it.
Cheers!

It is a big plunge. I gave the matter some real consideration for over a year before I started. And it might not be right for everyone, but it was for me. Do you live with much pain? I am sorry to hear it if so.

Yeah, I've been thinking about it for a long time too. I don't want to harp on it, but yeah I am in pain every day. I have a bad back, and now I have something called trigeminal neuralgia (nerves on the right side of my head are numb and cause migraine-like headaches). The doc and I are working on the neuralgia, but it's just finding a drug I can take for the pain and inflammation, not a cure. :( I thought I'd try a little bit of mostly sativa strains for the day for depression, and a more indica type in the evening (as needed) when the pain is worst and I can just chill out. I also have anxiety problems and a lot of trouble relaxing since I had cancer a couple of years ago. It seems there are a lot of articles that are saying weed could be good for a whole lot of my pesky problems. Of course, I may find it's not true. Then I'll just use my lights and set up and grow some nice orchids. :)

I'd like to apologize for venting like that. It was inappropriate. I was having a bad day. Sorry! (little cloud of doom and gloom gently floats away....)

No need to apologize. I didn't think it was such a negative post. You were just honestly answering my nosy question. Whatever you choose to do, I hope you find what works best for you.
