This is my first grow. I started feeding my plants fertilizer after 2 weeks of not having it, and at first it look like nitrogen deficiency/wasn't growing at all. They started growing at the start of the month as clones. I have a 1000 watt HPS at 20/24 and it's about 3.5 feet away from it, so I put a fan on slow, and I dump some water/coffee mix in the tote to raise the humidity in it, and there's a white blanket in the tote to help the reflection. They really didn't grow much this month, but that's because I didn't use fertilizer. I been using using instant coffee into my fertilizer to lower the Ph.

So the past three days I been feeding it diluted fertilizer. The edges of the leaves turn a bright yellow, so it looks like a nitrogen burn. I then dump a few cups of water last night on each one to flush it out. They're not dead, but I don't know what to do to make them healthy and grow well.

And later today, I'm going to transplant them to a hydroponic system. I'm just waiting for the water to be fine to put them in it since it's tapped. I am going to flush them out again probably.

It's easier for a beginner to grow in potting soil. If you want to use soil instead, get some foxfarm soil at your local hydro shop. Going hydro isn't a bad idea, but soil just tends to be easier. You can put rockwool in soil, in fact you're going to have to as you can remove the plant from the rockwool. What kind of hydro set up were you thinking of? Also, 1000 watts is pretty strong for such a small grow space.

That should have said "can't remove the plant from rockwool." oops.
