View Full Version : when to feed seedlings nutrients?!

okay so i have a noobish question here. when is the best time to feed my seedlings nutrients? some people say leave it 3 weeks whilst others say 1 week? whats best? they will be a week old on monday so i was thinking about feeding them then at a 1/4 of the recommended strength then.also they are planted in a coco/perlite mix. cheers

from looking at your pics they look way too small to worry about nutes yet. they should get all they need from water for now. you feed them now you could burn them off pretty fast.

Wait till you have 3 or 4 solid tips showing with 5 and 6 coming nicely before adding nutes.. I know some guys that will leave them till the bottom leaves start to yellow.. then clip em off and start with nutes then.. But I feel this is unnecessary stress on the plant.. Best way to tell is by how big they are.. not how old! Every strain will be a little bit different.. so just do what feels best for your situation :-)

The thing to know here is that you add nutrients after establishing roots.
As mentioned; IN most cases, you need to see 4-5 alternating nodes and fan leaves; Which tells you there are sufficient roots to add nutrients.
