hi guys seeing as my first attempt at growing went horribly wrong i thought i'd start a grow log! i've got two feminized ripper seeds grapegum and a feminized white widow seed. i germinated using the paper towel method until there was about 1/4 inch of taproot showing. they've been potted in coco mixed with perlite (75/25 mix). not going not give them any nutrients until they're about a week old. i've got a 600 watt hps bulb in there with them. sorry there's no pics at the min but theres not anything to see lol as they were potted yesterday. will update regularly with pics. any advice is greatly appreciated!

sweet bro do u know much about these particular strains? ie. what its like to smoke, yield etc. i think i've smoked white widow before but im not sure. also do u know if i need extractor fans? i've got a small house fan in there at the min to aid in circulation. cheers

i know good bit cos all my mates are growing.lol and yes you need good ventilation cos 600w gives out a lot of heat.

you need total 3 fans ...
fresh air in
air out and fan to blow on plants to make them stronger.lol

dazmantle
02-12-2013, 06:45 PM
yeah its quite hot in there! pushin 30 degrees lol cool il look into gettin a couple of cheap fans

Cannabinoidzz
02-12-2013, 06:51 PM
if you give me your grow room size i can tell ya what size fans you need. normal bathroom ones will prob do and they are cheap. =) at least here in IRL

cool grow look forward to seeing how it goes:thumbsup:
but 3 plants in a 3x3ft area is pretty cramped so you might want to do a mini scrog on them if you want a alright yeild from each plant because they with be fighting for the light
haha i just imagined those 2 grapegums just tag teaming the white widow!!!!!!!

cheers for the input growhand! i was looking into scroging but i thought its my second attempt at growin and i dont wanna get too technical at the min. if space becomes an issue in a few weeks or somethin i can relocate 1 of em to my mates grow. heres a question for ya though . . . should the stems be slightly red?!

red stems on a mature plant is a magnesium deficience but for a seedling its nothing to sweat it probly normal i had a stem that was purple once out of seed it was weird but it fixed itself i also started a little test grow to check the temperatures before outside before i star my real strains and if you can se it in the pic the stem is red`````````````````289764289765

o you see other peoples plants like mine because afer they get a little bit out of the soil like yours i tak it out and berry it back a little deeper this encerages more roots to grow out of the stem area
was growing in a really humid area outside one day i noticed that i had roots prouting out of the stemms to about a foot up it scared me didnt now what to do to i placed a bottomless bucket around it filled with dirt

keep in mind that all strains will look a little different while growing. not to mention you have different conditions then everyone else with all grow styles being custom and never duplicated. I only have two grows under my belt so you dont have to believe me but I remember how it was to see them at this stage. So exciting and not knowing what to do exactly.

One thing that you are always going to want to remember is that it is a weed and it thrives on neglect. Dont love your plants to death. I know how exciting it is for the first grow.

Keep in mind that you are almost thru the hard part. I feel like everyone fucks up the germ process or the seedling process. Once they mature its pretty hard to kill the plants. Cannabis plants are resilliant fuckers and will bounce back from just about anything if you know how to treat them right.

One problem I had for the longest time was a CalMag issue. Once your fan leaves start to turn yellow and get brown spots on them dont freak out. Buy some CalMag. You should use it with every watering. Most Nutes that you will use have trace amounts of Calcium and Magnesum and you will need to give them the CalMag they need or you will have Nute deficiencies.

CalMag is pretty cheap I got it for only 18 dollars and it will last me for at least 3 or 4 grows.

Once you have nute deficiencies the plant will get stunted and stop growing until you fix the problem. This issue took me about 2 weeks of progress in my grow before I figured out the solution and was able to afford it.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
I dont claim to know it all. I still have tons to learn. Just trying to help you out from making the same mistakes that I did

cheers for the comment ghost! i think i need to let them get on with it and stop worrying about them so much lol im gonna have a look into getting some calmag just incase (well the english equivalent anyway).

shit i didnt realize lol fuck it not as if theres anything in any of the accounts im broke as lol cheers for the advice on the watering il start waterin every 3 days or so (there gettin watered every other day or so at the min)

Mal420xl

let them dry out a little. they need very little water when small. try checking the soil near the drain holes or check in deep from the top. the roots will seek out water in the lower part of the pot, thats how they grow. if they are wet all the time there is no need to. the other draw back to over watering besides drowning is everytime you water you dissolve more nutes and eventually it can burn or lock them up or just plain turn the soil toxic.

day #18

my cameras broke so no pics at the min = ( but all are doing well. new growth is starting to show a bit darker (not by much though). watering all 3 as coco/perlite mix is bone dry. also im thinking about giving them some nutes monday maybe tuesday (depending on how the medium is). gonna be feeding with biobizz biogrow at half the recommended strength

I grow plants in tight, about a sq ft per plant or nine plants in a square meter. Three gallon bags can produce two ounces per plant, easy. So my present grow, 4' x 4' will produce about two pounds or 1 kilogram.

There are other ways though.

growhand420

sorry to here that this attempt failed but here is some things that you might want to read up on before your next grow.
1.is nutrients that's why those leaves were turning yellow because they didn't have enough
2. airflow might want to get a 9 in box fan because the perlite in you medium is burning
3. the curling of your leaves is also a sign of a deficiency most likely phosphorus since it was in flowering
if you have the money and are serious about growing then I would advice that you read the cannabis grow bible it is really the only book you will need
