i know that the plants turn purple because of the cold
but if i grow these strains during the summer will they not turn purple
if not then can i just spray some cold water on them
i just want some pretty purple bud the northern lights is just a great looking strain
Hi Grow.
From my understanding is the purple shows up in drastic temp changes. When I did my last grow of Hashberry it was in the middle of winter and I knew they had purple genetics.
What I did is I cracked my window in my grow room ( It was about -30 degrees out side or so ) I had the windows open for approx 3-4 mins, closed it and turned my light off for the night.
Next morning I came back and had purple starting to stem out on leaves, fresh growing bud, it was pretty bad ass.
Do NOT spray your plants with water, too much in 1 area can lead to mold & we never want that.
Let them do there thing, do not induce anything. I did mine just for fun and to see if it would work.

Depending on where you are you may get cold enough temps in Sept. to induce the purple. Best bet for purple is to invest in a strain that is purple from the start. I have a plant that is purple in the middle of August. No cold needed.290477
