Hello all, I have a problem that I am hoping you might help with. My neighbors in my apartment building light up on a pretty frequent basis. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with this, I am all about live and let live and do as you will and let others do likewise, but unfortunately, whatever they are smoking is REALLY bad stuff. It smells awful and it is starting to give my wife a headache. Like, I want to go out into the hallway and scream "Don't you like yourself?!?! Smoke better stuff, that shit smells like a skunk's ass!" But of course I can't do that because I want to be a good neighbor and don't want to be thought of as crazy or an asshole. My wife actually has spoken to them and asked if they would do it near an open window, or when it is in the stairwells to take it up or down a floor, and while they are usually cooperative when we ask, they forget the next time and we don't want to seem like pests. We are and want to remain good neighbors. So the question is what can I do to my apartment that would block the outside smells, or is there something I can do in my place that would provide a more powerful and more pleasant aroma? Thanks in advance.

I wish I had something that smelled like a skunks ass when you smoke it!!!
They're smoking dank stuff, especially if its effecting your wife - The reason she's getting a headache is because shes only getting some of the effect, have her go join them, headache will clear up :D
If you want help with the aroma and want to be a good neighbor, buy them a vaporizer - OR you can get yourself an air purifier, but if its a thick smell like your describing, most air purifiers won't keep up. I personally use the little scented wax dropins to cover smell, or yankee candles - both do well for me.
Another option is to buy some pineapple express and smoke that when they light up, very pleasant aroma!

I think I'd rather smell that, than the effects of too much 'liquid' intoxication.
A vaporizer would significantly cut down on the odor. It is sort of hard to teach some people about being 'polite' and decent neighbors. People like your neighbors, make the dreams of legalization weaken.
Pehaps talk to them when you are fairly certain, they have not been smoking. Seriously, I think I would ask them to stop taking whatever is causing them to be so rude. I suspect, they might be using something else, too. Well, unless you are in CO or WA? And I hope that is not the case, or your post will be, only one in a string of complaints.:rasta:

positive pressure ventilation is what your flat needs. Find a source of clean, warm air and blow it into your living space with a fan. That way the fumes will not be able to get to you.

sounds like they are smoking something else that is not weed, because even the most dankest weed doesn't stink that bad that it would give your neighbors headaches and stinking up their apartments.
a couple ways to prevent the smell getting into your apartment: febreze/air fresheners, incense, air conditioners and air purifiers, maybe even put a towel under your front door. but if the smell is that bad and its effecting your wife's health, then i would just complain to the landlord. I would talk to the neighbors one more time and let them know exactly how bad the smell is of whatever they are smoking. and i would let them know that the smell escapes all the way into your apartment, and that you and your wife hate the smell and that it even gives your wife headaches.
I ussually dont like to involve landlords and police, and rather talk it out with the neighbors or whoever is causing the problem. but if you and your wife have talked to them more then once each, and the problem still persists, then there is nothing wrong with contacting the landlord and complaining about the problem. your not a bad neighbor if you have asked them multiple times to get rid of the problem, and then ask the landlord to solve the problem. imo your a bad neighbor if you don't say anything and just complain to the landlord.
anyways I like your approach of not being a 'bad neighbor', but in this situation it's probably better to not be passive aggressive.
