My first Grow Of Good.

well guys, this is my very first grow and i decided to grow good Sour Diesel shit. Im using a crappy homemade set up that is a 1x1 cardboard box lined with alum. foil a 2000rpm cpu fan that has a adjustable speed fan knob to adjust speed of course then a 500rpm fan to blow the air in and the 2000rpm fan to suck it out into the homemade filter. i built a homemade watering system. details will be listed below.

Card board box = free
2 CPU fans = came from broken computer so free
1 gallon milk jug = 2.45
filter = free * used soda bottle, tissue, and some dryer stuff ***keeps static from shocking you but smells really really good*
Light fixture = 10$ but came from broken lamp.
50watt full color spectrum light = 5$
all in all price around 30$

I will keep this updated week by week. If you would like more details and pics on the grow box etc... or how/what im using to grow feel free to ask i will be more then glad to share :)

the current Light time is 24/0 and will stay like this for about 3 weeks maybe 4, and then will start the flowering stage. if you have any ideas that has been proven by many people to work great please share :)

The container its in has regular nail holes in the bottom and on the bottom sides to let water seap in through the bottom as well as a water dripper at the top to drop water very close to the plant at a rate 4 drops/hour has a few holes on the side to allow excess water to drain out back to the bottom to be reused. i have a 2 gallon jug that holds water with some tubing attached for the bottom and the top of the grow box to water the plant. on monday i will be buying a timer to switch the lights on and off for me so i dont have to ** due to my 10 hour work shifts.

its about 3 1/2" tall with only 4 leaves as shown in the picture, to me it seems little too tall for it to be only at week 1. is there something i could do to keep it about 2' tall at all times? possible more branchs etc.. new grower sorry for so many questions :P

Keep the lights near the plant and bury it a little in whatever you grow in

alright thanks for the info, i just switched my CFL bulb to a 42watt GE energy smart bulb 150 watt replacement uses only 42 watts, 2700 lumens **caution contains mercury** not sure if that has anything to do with plant growth

I also started my first grow about 2 weeks ago and i was noticing that my seedlings were getting quite tall for having few leaves, could that be because my light is about 3 feet from the top of my plants? and good job by the way man its a pretty dope setup you got there

yea after i moved my light down from 1' away from the plants to about 3-5" i instantly noticed the growth stopped * not really stopped but stopped growing height wise* and started to produce 4 more leaves almost right at the same spot as my other 2 leaves was at in the first place. making the leaves stretch like we did isnt good for the plant because it is taking up more nutes at a faster rate, now that i lowered the lights its working and growing pretty good but now my nutes are way too low due to my light height before i moved it. im starting on day 1 of week 2 and my very first 2 leaves * the round ones* are turning yellow, and my pot leaves * the second set* are starting to drop down a little bit. so i got to boost my P levels and my MG levels and nothing like the medicine "AirBorne" to help out with 40MG of Mag and if im not mistaking 15mg of Ph.

could somebody tell me if this is to much light for this plant and maybe why its dying?

Im no expert, but after reading and looking at your pictures, I've come to the conclusion that your messin with it to much. All the nutes aren't necessary at this point. Your burning your baby when i start from seeds, I use old soil which my plants have used up most nutes and I place under a 40 watt replacement until it has atleast a few nodes and maybe 5 or 6 leaves. And then I start messin with it.

it could be possible but when i switched from a CFL 13 watt *only uses, not sure what it replaces* to a 45 watt replaces 150 watt CFL thats when it started. so i switched back and im going to see what its gonna do. if its gonna continue to do the same thing then its the soil. if it gets better then it was the light. ** Note The soil is roughly 6months old. and had something grew in it at one point but it never survived due to the cold weather of winter.

Now that you've switched out the light. Wait atleast a few days befor doing anything else. Because what you do to your baby today might not take effect for a few days. I just flushed my girl yesterday because of a possible over fert. Today I want to mess like crazy but I know i have to restrain until atleast the third day to see if she's getting worse or getting better. Only the new growth will tell me. I've noticed that when a mistake is made and then adjusted. It shows in the older leaves for the rest of the grow. The older leaves may get worse but the new growth tells you if what you did worked. If a leaf is damaged and the plant feels it necessary to let it die and fall off in order to save the rest of the plant the old leaves will get worse and fall off. Just pay attention to your new growth. If that makes any sense. Im no expert with marijuana plants. Im on my second grow with seeds and clones, but I've succesfully grown everything from cacti to orchids and trees. I love growing marijuana. Its such a challenge.

my baby died. :(( so freaking sad man its like loosing a kid. o well it was a male plant anyways so IDC lol time to plant another sour Diesel plant and maybe mix it with some orange flavor juice from fresh oranges and give it a tab bit of flavor :P will keep updated.

and the reason why it died is because the automation water feeder was leaking and dropping more then expected and caused the soil to be over watered. ** its like a mush now :/** so im letting it dry out before i plant anything else in it. or maybe i should buy new soil? if so what kind? ** take note live in USA, state GA,
