Tin foil is not as good as mylar, mylar is about 20% better, also you get hot spots with foil. Really nice plants thought, looking really healthy, keep sending the pics . Good luck.

No; it does not work better then Mylar. Flat white paint works better then tin foil. Mylar works better then flat white paint.

Any hydroponics store sells mylar, it's a little pricey though especially if you're covering a large area. If cost is a concern you could go with the plastic sheeting, it's black on one side and white on the other. It's not quite as reflective as mylar but it works well. Not too expensive either.
