I have tied branches to the main stalk in the past to help bring the branches closer to the light and help support the wait of the buds. It was a hastle using twine. A couple of months back I started using plastic coated large paper clips. Quick and easy, both for install and removal. I think I am liking the results, but will ovbserve a couple of more cycles. The only down side I noticed (which really is a mute point when using support) is that the branches do not develop the same rigidnes to support its own weight.

Does anyone else tie up branches? What do you think?

Heya razer, i have tied branches to the main stem before. i tied it up with hemp tho! the branch pretty much adapted to the change and stayed rite where it was without the piece of hemp tied to it. To make the branch stronger i just super-cropped it, and it seemed to work fine! never had a downside to tying up my buds!

Hey Sensiskunk, sorry it took me so long to get back to your post. Hectic around here sometimes.

My two concerns were the lack of strength in the branches after having been supported... which is somewhat of a moot point because they are too heavy with buds to support themselves naturally. And second, wondered if I was restricting airflow and light under the canopy to a detrimental point. There is a point of diminishing returns either way, so I am just trying to find the optimal conditions for my style.

On the topic of heavy buds.... My 1 month old Trainwreck is falling over because of it weight already... Yummmmm... so I tie the girls to the poles.

I USE PIPE CLEANERS... YOU KNOW THE LITTLE PEICES OF WIRE WITH FUZZ AROUND IT. USSUALY USED IN ARTS AND CRAFTS. THIS WORKS GREAT BECAUSE THEY ARE REAL REAL NICE TO MY PLANT NO TIGHTNESS AROUND STEMS AND REDICULOUSLY EAYS TO BEND AND SHAPE THE WAY YOU WANT.
TRY IT YOU WILL LIKE IT.
