Help with Light

Dont even know if this is the right thread for this question. But my HID light is starting to not come on when it is suppose to unless i tap the top of the hood a few times.
Is this a faulty hood,ballast or is my bulb starting to end its life cycle? I screwed the bulb in straight and its snug. Any advice would be helpful. This is my 3rd grow with this hood ballast and bulbs combo , I use a HPS for Veg and MH for flowering right now i am on the flowering stage now. So when the timer is suppose to turn it on nothing happens now until i tap the hood a few times. Would appreciate any advice from someone knowledgable .

I know absolutely nothing about lights. But, I do know, if you are "tapping" it to come on, sounds like some loose wires and could cause a fire? I'd look into this, a bit more seriously. Good Luck.

Its not the wiring have checked it over and over . When i mean i tap it i barley even have to tap the top of the shade. but thanks for the comment and again any advice would be helpful.
