I have lurked here for a few months, and the mods here are great communicators. I learned everything I needed to know by reading the stickies and posts on these forums.
Decided subbing was the way to go.........QF 5.7.1 Canadian, 3oz.......I used that because I dont care about 10 bucks and I have no idea whether or not the labs here check for uric acid.
I followed the advice of BT i believe and practiced practiced, practiced. The training paid off through familiarity and understanding of the process. There are many things that can be thought out to allow a more realistic illusion for the clinic. Might not be important, but if I was a lab tech there are certain things that I would expect to see during and after a normal sample.
I also decided that having a slightly hot sample going in was a good thing, since an under temp sample was inexcusable. What I did was micro the sample for 10 secs, band a hand warmer to the bottle, and wrap the bottle in a towel. 3 hrs later the sample was high out of spec, but just a few minutes in front of the AC vent while turning go it back down to a blue 100..........at that point, i folded the sample in the towel for the short ride to the lab. When I "nutted" the bottle, the temp was a green 98 with a red 100, perfect. I will add that I used a pair of whitie tighties and a pair of boxer briefs, the whites hold the bottle in place MUCH better than boxer briefs.
After a 30 min wait, providing the sample was so easy........Im ashamed to say I was actually worried about it. I can not stress enough how important practice is.......not so you can unscrew the cap well (although it certainly helps), but because of the confidence it gives. I could have carried that bottle in the bathroom in my pocket and I would have been good. I will say that the 3oz bottle is sorta big, I would think that most people worried about some sort of inspection should work to ensure it cant been seen or felt during a reasonable search.
She took the sample, put three drops on a panel, and put bout 2 ozs in packaging and I signed the CoC and was out of there. I saw where the panels showed negative, so I would feel safe saying that the sub was successful.
Certainly will answer any questions........but I just wanted to thank BT and the rest of the mods on this site. You guys answered all my questions, and gave me knowledge that certainly calmed my nerves and allowed for a very smooth sample.
Now I gotta start a job (already retired once).........crap!!
