Should switching from an MH for vegging to an HPS for flowering be done right when you switch to the 12/12 cycle, or after the first sign of flowering? Also is a 1000w sufficient enough for 12 plants? Thanks

The red HPS lamp plus the photo-period change to 12/12 are what triggers the change to flower. So yes start hps with 12/12.
Yes a 1000 is big enough for 12 plants as long as they fit in a 6x6 foot square. A 1000 hps has a foot print of 8x8 feet.
it gets weak to the outside edge.

Remember your canapy can only b abut 2 feet deep. The lights don't penetrate any more than that.
KBS is how the big boy's play if ou want to google it. freaken trees.

KBS??

Thats what I was afraid of on the canopy. Sounds like im going to have to figure out how to top them. They are all over a foot right now and I just switched to 12/12. Would it be advisable to maybe put some cfl lights on both sides so the lower part of the plants get light? They are all fit in an about an 8X4 1/2. Thanks for the info!!

What I was think of doing LOC NAR was hanging one cfl on each side to light the lower portion of my plants

Bushmasters in the first or second week will keep them from stretching. It will make them go fat and start maturity. the bushmasters at this point would help more than topping. topping does damage and takes time to recover, not good going into flower
Yes side lighting is always good and will help alot
that space I would just rotate them on the ends and towards the end of flower have the larger ones to the outside smaller in the middle so everyone gets some light.
