My Countertop Beauty, no cost first grow, would like ID

So I found a bag of weed walking to campus one day, and it had seeds in it and I germinated them and one started to grow. I had a little pot with a peat brick, then I liberated some soil from the plants outside of shops up the road, and there was a terra cotta half gallon pot on my fire escape when I moved in, and I borrowed a worklight from my edifice of higher education. I bought a 23W CFL for six bucks and set about growing. It sprouted up and up and up, and actually grew too tall too fast so that it fell over and I had to use the arm from a pair of glasses for support.

I had stretch, which didn't bother me, but I didn't have many leaves coming in. One morning I came in and saw some mold on the outside of my soil, so I bit the bullet and went to buy some soil of my own. I also transplanted into a gallon sized pot that happened to previously be my bathroom trash bin. It's actually a really pretty pot. After the transplant with the new soil and moving the light, my stretch factor went down a bit (I had 4 inches of mainstem without any leaves, then inch and a half gaps between the two nodes that had managed to form.) but I still wasn't getting new leaf growth. I decided to top the plant, as a new pair of leaves had just formed, the plant was about 16 days old and I figured it could handle it. Growth stopped for a couple days, then I saw new leaf growth at the nodes, and actually at the point of topping as well (must have gotten lucky). Then growth started to take off. One day I came back from school and she (I hope it's a she) had grown into the light and one of her leaves had gotten a bit cooked.

Anyway, I was worried about only having 6 leaves, but now the topping seems to have done wonders and I have 14 new leaves coming in with another 12 in the making (lower branches aren't getting enough light to grow as fast as the top) I'm much happier about the prospects. Basically I found an eighth of weed, which goes for $50 around here (yeah, I know, right? I'm from CA and it's just a tragedy), and I've spent about $14 on this grow. I'm going to buy another light, 150W CFL replacement (29W?), some magic citrus to get rid of the odor (it's starting to come in. really sweet and lovely, almost minty), pick up a timer switch for the lights, and put this girl into 12/12 as soon as I see some pre-flowering traits, in what I would estimate to be about 9-12 days from other logs I've read.

This is my first grow, and I probably won't continue until legalization, but if I can get even another eighth out of this plant (or hash oil if it's a boy) at under $30 put into it, I'll consider myself a winner.

Looking for anybody who might be able to identify the plant as well, since it was found weed. The shake off the bag I put into a spliff and it had me so high I thought I was going to throw up, so I went to the bathroom, and then got flop sweat like you wouldn't believe, so I undressed and crawled, literally crawled because I could not stand up, to my bed, naked. Twenty minutes after that I was fine, but she's growing from some unexpectedly potent genes. The actual bud that was smoked was a very heady. heavy high, not quite couchlock, but not something you'd describe as "getting buzzed".

The stretching is from the lighting, it just wasn't close enough (could be temp too). You did right cutting it, and honestly, if you want more bud out of it, well, here is a simple diagram...

Now, there is a technique called FIM (fuck I missed) for cutting. Basically, you cut the stem the the 1/2 way point of your node/pistil/leave stems so your cutting just above the joint, not at the joint - This will cause the plant to branch out twice, instead of once - If you do want to continue to grow, this would also be the perfect opportunity to take a clone. Anyway, this technique will help your plant to branch out more, creating more cola's - I like to do this a total of 4 times. (at the same time, less stress to just get it over with) When I'm done it basically looks like a stick with 2 sets of leaves on the bottom - This will cause a stunt for a few days, but the plant will recover, and you'll have 8 main branches.

As far as describing it, well, it looks like a hybrid, definitely some indica in there, I don't see any ruderlis, just not hardy enough. If you got that high off a spliff, maybe ak or headband - Are there more leaves coming in? It looks like each set of fans is only 5 leaves, I might not be seeing the smaller ones because of the picture... However, if the 5 leave set continues, that narrows the breeding down alot - Looking at a sativa/indica, primarily indica - do you recall what color the buds were?

This might be white widow, I've seen it start with 5 before - don't get your hopes up, but it does look like it has solid genetics, otherwise it would really be super stretchy :)

Thanks very much for the response. I read about the pruning business and figured I had actually done an FIM, but it doesn't look like it, since I am getting 4 branches at the top. When I cut the next time, I'll try it out.

There's one fan that has 7, but the extra two are very small and not serrated. Otherwise it does look like it's sticking with 5. The bud was a very dusty dark green, probably the darkest I've seen except one really weird red bud that I had (was almost black). There weren't a lot of hairs on it (it certainly wasn't picked from the topmost buds of the plant), but they were more milky than amber. Looked more like headband than ak from the pics I looked up. I don't think it's going to be white widow, but that would be fucking sick.

Given that it's growing despite the fact that I've basically given it only the mildest reasons to, it looks like it's pretty resilient. I may look into cloning. I'll probably cut the next set of stems and leave it at that. I don't want it very big, and I don't smoke very much quantitatively (low tolerance is awesome) so if I get as much as an ounce, harvested in Nov, I'll be solid until my birthday in March.

Here's hoping it's a girl. I flipped a coin once for each day old it was, heads for female in my superstitious mine, and the last 8 in a row were all heads, so, yeah.
