First, let me start by saying I have my medical card and the amount i'm growing is well under what it is allowed by law in my state. I have done several successful soil grows in the past and after doing some research, have decided to give hydro/DWC a try. I'll update this frequently and should be starting up in a few weeks to a month. I need to fix my digital camera so pics will have to wait for now, but i will post some eventually. Can't wait!!! I will be fimming/lst and may throw the screen in the mix too. I'm kinda on the fence with that being my first hydro grow, well see tho. Lets get started with my bucket setup :smokin:
All credit for this bucket setup goes to this Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step* - Grasscity.com Forums (http://forum.grasscity.com/do-yourself/121335-lets-build-bubble-bucket-*step-step*.html). One of the most informitive threads i have found on my search so far, and the guy who wrote this is awesome and has taken valuable time from his life to answer a shit ton of questions in this thread. THe instructions are clear and easy to understand for even the newest of the noobs, so fire one up for rumple:smokin:
Bucket Supplies
- Petco airpump $28 - has four outlets, 9.0L/min 140gph, and came with clear tubing (get black, or wrap this stuff in black electrical tape after it's plumbed up), 4 airstones (cheap one broke already i got different ones anyway), 4 check valves, and a spare air filter included, not bad for $27.99, i tested my setup, it seems to pump great and it is adjustable too, a little noisy, but it's a bigger pump, what do you expect.
- Walmart air pump $10 - two outlets
- better airstones $2 each at petco
- PVC stuff $20 at home dept
- (3) 5 gallon buckets $2.50 each at home depot
- (3) 6" net pot bucket lids $4 each Bucket Lids with built in Net Pots (http://htgsupply.com/Category-Bucket-Lids-with-built-in-Net-Pots.asp)
Now for Nutrients and such. First, I will be using distilled water. I'm undecided whether to go with the GH flora series, or try the Fox Farm hydroponic nutes. I swear by FF from my soild grows, i'm curious how their hydro stuff will be. I will update the list with prices when i have decided.
Nutrients/Media
- Hydroton 10L bag $11 Expanded Clay Pellets (http://htgsupply.com/Category-Expanded-Clay-Pellets.asp)

Grow Tent Setup/Lighting
Im just going to make it easy on myself and get a tent on amazon. It got good reviews, so hopefully my experience with it will be good! Going to go with a 600w HPS/MH in a cool tube with a duct booster to keep the heat in check. I'm thinking of t-ing that into the exhaust fan ducting and all going out of the carbon scrubber i built instead of dropping $80 for a pre made one. For clones/seedling, CFLs will be used to get those started off right.
