View Full Version : is a 200 hundred watt cfl to mcuh light and heat 4 inches away from seedlings

i have 6 plants about 1 week old all very close together under a 200 watt 6500k cfl,sometimes i wonder if thats too much light,cause i see alot of other ppl using much less and getting great results,also will this be too hot 4 inches away this bulb definetley puts off heat

Sounds like too much heat rather than too much light...

Maybe 8 inches away would be good to start. If the seedlings start to stretch then it might be too far away, so move it a little closer,

If they become too bushy then move it away. You want o keep about 1 inch between each node. then you have the sweet spot regarding light distance.

Listen to your plants, they are always showing you something :)

thank you for answering much appreciated do you mind if i show you a few pics one of my plants is giving me problem and i would like to know if its heat related,i posted it elswhere but no one willl help me,or respond,one plants have wavy looking leaves other than that its healthy the other one has alternating drooping with its leaves one day one side will droop the next day it perks back up and the other one is drooping,it happens all the time regardless if i water,so i doubt its watering i check ph its fine,i just wanna know if there is a problem now so i can fix it before it gets out of hand,thanks286928286929286930286931

Everything is just fine. But be sure you let the pots get a little light between waterings.

Oh, be sure you get a small fan blowing on them to train the stems.

Just let it blow them lightly for about 10 minutes every hour.

yes i have a fan blowing lightly on them and a fan blowing hot air out,thanks for the tip thouugh,im always open to learning new things.

I just opened mine in "Indoor Growing" I think.

Maybe there is a "Grow Log" area, I forget.
