well i have to get one soon and i was curious in what is the best job u people on the boards have had and how did u get the job? i wanna c wat i should look for,,,

Just dont' be a busser/waiter or something like that in the hospitality business. I was a busser a year or so ago and it sucked. Plus I only made $5.15. You just have to always put on a happy face even when the customer is being a dick. You always have to be peppy, which is one reason they asked for me to leave. I started coming to work high and didn't give a fuck anymore cause they treated me like shit. So........I bailed. I think it was a good decision :)

Oreo call you local Post Office or visist www.usps.com and look up under jobs. If you are 18 and can pass a drug test you can get a job making 16.45 and hour. You have to log on and see when they giving the postal exam in your area. You have to take the postal exam to get the job. They hire you based on your postal score for example you take the test and score 98 somone else scores a 99, they get hired in first then you. They hire until the list is used up. Anyone who scores a 70 or better is on the list. If they aren't hiring right now b/c they have an active list you can always get in as a casual. They pay around 10 and hour and you don't get benfits. It's a good secure job with excellent benifits. All you have to do is take the test. I did, and I'm waiting for my scores, should be in this week. I haven't smoked since I took the test and know b/c I studied for the test I will do well and get hired in quickly. Hope that helps. By the way the most exciting job I've ever had was as a Travel Agent. I didn't make alot of money, averaged out to about 12 an hour with hourly pay and commission combined, but the travel rewards were awesome. I traveled all over for a few years, and that was really cool. However I worked for small agency and after 9/11 I was layed off :( SO anyway, now I'm going to work for the post office. Can't beat the money, and benifits without going back to college. I have three kids and I need to pay for their college so I'm not planning to go back at this time, but I won't say never,as I have gone to college I just didn't finish. I went to travel school completed that and that was all the farther I got with college. Hope that helps.

Alaska is part of the USA the last time I checked, and therefore minimum wage is the same no matter what state you live in as the federal government makes the law. While I'm not sure what minimum wage is today as I haven't made wages like that in many years I can tell you it's NOT $10 an hour. Last time I recall it was $5.25 but I know it's gone up since, I just don't know what too. Honestly, I can't stop laughing b/c you said it's more in Alaska really dude, where are you from? Minimum wage varies by state...connetticut is 7.10 pennsylvania is 5.75 alaska is 10.00 those are the only ones I know, Im from connetticut.

Thanks for setting me straight on the subject. It does make sense though, b/c it cost more to live in some states then it does in others. Anyway I'm gonna take your word for it and shut the hell up.

as an aside you might want to look into student loans or something, even a year spent learning a trade will make your life a lot easier.

If you're a hard worker, the best unskilled jobs are jobs with tips, or working on commission. Travel agency jobs can have fringe benefits, like free trips. If you're lazy, try to pick up a government job, postal or park ranger, but in these types of jobs you'll be tested.

Loan Officer. Its a good job they can get you a lot of money if you know how to talk. The salary is all commission. Which means if I don't sell any loans I get no money. None, not even hourly. But each sale I get nets me about a grand average.

Working with the public was never any fun because they know theyve got you right where they want you. The abuse can be bad, and the pay doesnt usually measure up.

One of my fave jobs was Blockbuster. I was baked all the time iw as workin and always hittin on the big tittied chicks that worked there. Putting games and movies and shit where they need to go, and taking smoke breaks every 10 mins :p

Really though, it wouldn't hurt to check it out. My freind has a financing degree and he still works for the post office. He said he couldn't beat the $70,000. he made last year, not even with his degree. He is using his degree to make other money by helping other invest and teaching college courses now, but in all, he just couldn't pass up the money or the benifits. Hope that helps. And, no the money he has made as an investor and teacher were not factored into the 70 grand he made, that was strickly postal money. He has been there 10 years and makes more then starting wages, but with overtime he has work that was his ending total......

i work at a ice cream store at the mall. 7.50 an hour amd i give ppl scoops of ice cream. friend works at the mall too so we take a break and smoke every time i work.
