can anyone alleviate my background check paranoia?

I'll make this as short and sweet as possible. Was offered an amazing job contingent upon passing drug test/background check. Not worried about the DT thanks to the awesome sub threads on this site. Signed forms for BG check on the 26th of July so its really only been a week (business days only). Nothing on my record except a speeding ticket and shitty credit thanks to my asshole ex (credit problems originated 2006-2007).

I've never had a BG check take this long before and I'm freaking out. Is it normal for them to take this long? I'm also from out of state, and the third party company conducting the check will have to check two states/three counties for my records. Which are non-existent because I've never fucking been busted for anything.

Somebody please help my addled brain!

If there's nothing in your background then there's nothing to worry about. Have had probably a dozen background checks because of my private contracting with the government. I've had it take up to 2 weeks. Doesn't really take that long but people in HR tend to be slackers so just have patience.
