Hi all -- My sister and I live in Queens, NYC. She is still suffering now 3 months with post-herpetic neuralgia from cranial shingles. She talks suicidally sometimes as it feels like there is no end in sight. A few people, even the neurologist, told her that smoking pot might help her pain. Not being pot smokers, we have no contacts, and most of our family are very straight-laced so we can't ask them. I did see a post here about going up near some of the bodegas at 135th st and Broadway in Manhattan, but I think that is too risky buying like that. I do have a brother who lives in Nevada.
My questions are: if the pot/medical marijuana is obtained in a legal state, is it prosecutable in a non-legal state? Could my sister go to a doctor in a legal state, get the script, get the pot, and then travel/come home with it without fear of getting into trouble with the law?
Thanks for any help.

NO! Being "able" to BUY in a permitted State means several things (requirements!);
1. You're a Resident and Complying with ALL law's within that States "mechanism" for such licensure; i.e. being "Registerd"; having a CARD, etc.
2. UNLESS "One" wishes to buy from the "underground" market, then all rules are off and legal liability begins; Risk v/s Reward theory.
3. YOUR Brother "could" supply You, however he better know what he's doing before he begins that task. IF you/she were my Sister, i'd help you/her,regardless of "Law"!

The bottom line is #3, in M. Olivers post. Do what you need to do! As a patient and former caregiver, your sister needs relief. Modern medicine does not always provide that. You are searching the correct avenue.
Access, is a bigger problem for those of us that do (now it is did); not know anyone that smoked or used marijuana. I do hope you have found some relief for her.
Oh, and let her know, this illness/disease too will pass (remission-often forever) and is controlled. You definitely need the correct medication. And it would not hurt to start growing, asap! Lots of resources here to learn. Then try making tinctures, ointments, etc..and try some topically, as well! Good luck to both of you! ;) pr

Hi (again!) I just read up on Oregon's Cannabis law's; Which State that "One does NOT need to be a resident of Oregon to secure The Card!" I would suggest that this 'could" be an inroad to your need. FURTHER if you "reference" SPARC, San Francisco, CA; Which IS a Members Only Co-Op!; THEY give/have a Members Menu, which DETAILS the medicinal aspects of Many fine strains, which could give you a better idea of which strain "might" work for The Patient!
2. YES, States that DO NOT have Cannabis Legislation WILL PROSECUTE YOU IF YOU TELL THEM WHAT YOU HAVE!! HELLO!!!
Let's USE some ingenuity, O.K? How do you think we obtained Medicine in the 70's? In the 80"s? In the Early 90's??

Just a thought but learn how to "guerrilla" grow or "closet grow"? Not telling ya to break the laws but if she needs meds that would be an alternative & I DO NOT CONDONE NOR CONDEMN THIS PRACTICE!, Jus t do not like to see folks in pain when there are ways to exist w/o!
