View Full Version : Question about THC levels in body when smoking after abstaining

Hi all,
This might be a dumb question, but for the sake of my sanity I have to ask this. I have a drug test coming up I have been very stressed about for a new job.
I am a pretty heavy smoker - about a gram a day - for the 2 years. On May 12 I stopped smoking, then on May 19 slipped up and smoked twice. I then abstained until May 28, but once again slipped up smoking twice. I have a drug test coming up on June 22 (maybe could push back a few more days), and I am a bit nervous.
Did my slip-ups cost me? If not for these, I would have been clean for over 40 days, which should be ample time.
I guess my question is - can these smoking slipups somehow prolong the THC that was already in my system? This seems it'd defy basic physics, but I would love some outside advice, at least to help calm my nerves.
I would prefer not to substitute.
thanks so much for the help community!

The only way to find out for sure is to test yourself with a THC test kit. When testing yourself, be sure to use the first urination of the day.

Thanks for the quick reply!
If i were to set up a test at a lab, would I be able to get results of my THC level, or just a pass/fail like the at home tests?
Also, I am still curious about if smoking after abstaining can somehow slow the THC killing off process?

Depends on how much money you want to spend. Do you want to spend money on a "go/no-go" assay; or do you want to spend the extra money to have a quantitative analysis performed? The lab only provides the "test menu" for the client to pick and choose from.
Also, I am still curious about if smoking after abstaining can somehow slow the THC killing off process? Depends on so many factors, including - but limited to - pattern of use, how much was used, metabolic rate, and level of physical activity. And each case is different. Testing yourself periodically will give you the answer.

Thanks. So I guess I still don't have a conclusive answer to my original question, but it sounds like there may not be one.
I just figured it kind of defied conservation in physics that the level of THC in your body could somehow increase more if you were a heavy smoker that quit 2 weeks ago, versus someone who has never smoked. I would think both are gaining the same levels, but I guess this may not be the case (or impossible to really prove it is). If anyone else has ideas about this please let me know, I am still stressing very badly.
I took an at-home-test this morning, with the second pee of the day but no dilution, and had a very faint line, which I think indicates a pass. I've already gone ahead and put it in a vial though and am going to send it off for further confirmation. I'll keep this thread updated with my results.
On a side note - last year I did use Quick Fix for a job and it worked. I just don't want to go through that stress again.

Hi,
Sorry for multiple posts. Figured i'd post a screenshot of my stick. If anyone thinks this isn't a pass, please let me know!

285019A faint line is still a line. That result is a negative.
Even synthetic urine controls (which contain no drug metabolites at all) can produce a faint line on an assay.

Sorry to revive this thread, but..
How common is it to pass the at-home tests one day and then fail the next? Does this mean I am flirting with passing levels and should be good with another week+ of abstaining?
Thanks so much!!

it's defiantly possible, thats why its best to use first piss of the day. just slightly dilute yourself and you should be okay. by slightly dilute i mean piss and then drink a bottle of water n u should be good

You wont know until you get the results from the lab. Mine looked just like that on Tuesday, I should have the results by next Friday or later. But people fail with faint lines. I'm thinking the 99% accurate refers to their confirmation testing, not the screen.
