Did a hair test 11 days ago and haven't heard anything back. From what I understand, they do not notify you if everything is fine, they only call if they need clarifcation.

I used to smoke 5-6 times a week, but small amounts (1/8 total per month). I knew about the upcoming test and stayed clean for exactly 95 days prior, with only one small hit since then (slight moment of weakness!), however I'm afraid if my hair grew any slower than avg 95 days might not be enough. I would like to assume no news is good news and go on with my productive life smoking. Anyone know how long it takes to get hair results back from Quest?

My main concern is I also take a prescription which I know would definitely show up so the fact that they haven't called to ask about it makes me think the results have not come back yet or that they are re-testing, which makes me really nervous since I heard on re-tests there is no cutoff level. If they are re-testing because they found my prescription could I then test positive for THC, or do they only re-test for the type of drug initially found? I tried calling the lab to get my results, but no one answers ever. How much time do I need do I need to wait to assume I'm safe and start smoking again?

There is no retest unless you decide to mount a challenge to a positive test result and only if such a challenge is determined to have merit.

Its best to hold off smoking until you recieve your first paycheck.

Do you mean the lab won't retest the same hair to confirm the positive result unless I challenge it? Or do you mean the company most likely won't allow me to contest it saying it was inaccurate and ask to go for it again (new sample)? At this point it is 106 days since my last smoke. This is a grad school internship, they gave me exactly 90 days notice and I already signed the offer letter/been assigned a project for my start date on 6/11.

I'm wondering at what point can I assume all is good without having to call HR and inquire? I can't believe that it got sent to the company already without anyone calling me out on the prescription, but it's been 11 days so I have no idea what's going on. Is it likely I passed for THC at 95 days clean? I have really long hair and not super confident the girl taking my hair had any idea what she was doing or even got the right end in there. She tried to give me a urine test until I informed her the order was actually for hair. Obviously I'm tired of waiting and want to smoke again, but more just worried that the fact it is taking so long is a bad sign.

I would assume that because you already had a job offer and its just waiting for the drug test results that you must be fine. Of course its never good to assume anything.lol I would just call HR and ask if there's been any change in your June 11 start date. Never mention the drug test. If there's a problem with that HR will tell you at that time.
