Guys, I'm seeing "Aphids" & they're attacking me garden. Hearing different methods, Ladybugs, Soapy Water & rinse? I hear the latter will help, but will it damage the garden? As in spraying with soapy water?

I Don't Get it?

Ive heard 1 cup vegetable or white mineral oil 2 cups water. Spray this homemade aphid control mixture on the aphids every few days until the aphids recede. This home remedy to get rid of aphids will suffocate the aphids. Make sure that plants that are treated with this solution are keptout of direct sunlight as the oil may magnify the sunlight and burn the plants.

Or you can spray the plant with you garden hose to knock the aphids off. Spray the plant every day until the plant is aphid free.

i use neem oil. it works great, makes the bugs retarted or something. they stop mating and eating till they die, and its all organic and u can use it up to the day before harvest, u can get it at any home depot or stores like that and its cheap. although i havent had to deal with aphids (thank god) it worked great on knats, but it says it works for them and many other bugs

THANX A ZILLION!!! Even though I noticed very few today after spraying with my organic based dish detergent I will grab some neem

Good job transplanting into 5 gallon buckets. Those 1 gallon would not have been enough.

I just transplanted my 4 indoor ladies into 4 x 2.5 gallon buckets. Outside you will need much more root space !

Good looking grow btw... and I also use neem oil. Firstly I heat 1 litre of water until its warm, then I add 3ml of soap or detergent, then I shake up the spray bottle. This is important to get the soap to mix well with the water. Then I add 5ml of neem oil and shake very well to help the soap infuse the neem oil. then spray the shit out of the plants every couple of days for the entire life cycle of the insects. This will mess with their head and they will die off. You need to keep spraying to get the grubs that were laid too. 3 weeks is usually more than the life cycle of most pests.

Take care.

Thanx bro:

Still very young & actually have gnats, not aphids as previously thought but the neem is great for all little buggers. These little things are distracting as all hell!

Gnats are usually caused by over watering.

But the neem oil in a spray will kill them in 3 weeks. Be sure you keep spraying. If you don't kill them they will eventually kill your plants.

I had indoor plants that I didnt look after in the past and the gnats killed these plants in 3 weeks.

I hear ya. They are a pain & have been on them with the neem spray. Never combined with dish detergent but will give it a go. Which stage of development are you in, pics? Btw, been raining A LOT where I reside so I don't have a say!

Nice !!! 19 plants in full flower !! Yummy !

Do you get a lot of sunshine where you are ? Hopefully so !

I have a few outdoors too but I can't get photos really because they are in the wilderness.

Come the end of October I'll have some nice pics up ;) Good luck with it !!!

Oh, and there is another kind of spray you can make to kill pests. Take 3 - 4 cigarettes and break them up in a pot. Then pour 1 litre of 'boiling' water on them and leave it sit over night.

The next morning boil the pot for around 3 or 4 minutes and let it sit again... When it cools strain out the tobacco and use the liquid as a spray for the plants.

Bugs hate this stuff too... So tobacco and neem oil should do the trick.

19 remain which is funny cuz I miscounted in the beginning. Thought there were only 19...... well now it is definitely that number! One just didn't tolerate the stress of transplanting & 1 was male. All are now in 19L containers. Amended the soil using Starbucks coffee grinds. Very good from what I'm seeing. Here are a couple pics of the girls. These are the most prolific with 2 months remaining. The one to the left is fat & her neighbor is getting there.

2 questions:

A. Why so long with a grow cycle. From my understanding it should be 3-4 months.... 5 boxtops & this includes flowering? You can get 3-4 grows in a year with much smaller bushes & yield a bunch dependent on your grow techniques, nutes etc. Your Tree appears 6 Foot at least, correct?

B. So you have a moth problem? Caterpillars are indicative of this (I'm fairly certain.) You should start a thread asking about this under "Plant Problems"

From the pics i saw they looked pretty good. The bugs dont seem to be mutilating the plant. Theres usually always gonna be some kind of little damage from pests outdoors. I usually have a few different kinds of bugs on my plants but it works because some seem to be beneficial and take care of the other bugs eating at my leaves or sucking the water our of tiny areas. Ive never used any sprays and i check on my ladies a lot ....Sometimes i do get quite a few on the plant but it never gets all over serious damage from them. i just give her a tiny shake though and they scatter and fall off. Always good to keep watching cause things can change.

285029285030 here are a few more that will go outside soon enough. Diff clones from the 3 mothers that i posted the other day. The bigger one in the black container isnt a clone though. Shes a blueberry gum mother that i harvest then brought back then cloned off her... now im gonna let her flower outside. She will go in a big bucket though instead of the ground. Her kids will go in the ground though. I keep a few in buckets cause the weather here can change really quick esp in sept oct. Also a few in buckets so i can force flower and get harvests before my sept or oct harvests.

Of the 21 plants placed outside all but 4 either hermed or just died from heat stress. Thats ok cuz the 2 that are still in active flower made it through a double harvest. Waiting to taste the fruits as they (pis) are drying & waiting to be tasted. Btw, weighed the 2 colas @ they came in at 480 & 374 grams respectfully. Guessing I may come up with a total of at least a pound from the 2?

Trying to stretch the time outdoors by 5 minutes/day. So been bringing her in @ 18:15 from 17:45 over a weeks time.

OK:

Finally decided enough's enough & decided to leave her outside. Gather I will know soon enough if problems arise? Until then (Possibly 3-4 weeks to completion, dunno cuz never did anything outdoors) Shot a few pics to give an idea as to her progress. Oh, 1 more question, should I use some of the high octane mixtures such as "Beastie Bloomz" or "Cha Ching" & if so should I use them with out the regular nutes visa vie.... "Big Bloom" & "Tiger Bloom" or just stick with the primary nutes.... Cheers
