This site gives a wealth of information but it is at times mind boggeling. Somewhere I read that someone suggested using Fox Farm Ocean Forrest for soil. If I use that does it have enough nutrients already in it or do I still need to add fertilizer? If so, when do I begin, how often and what should I use. I'm a very first time beginner and I want to get it right. Thanks for helping.

It has plenty of nutrients in it if you transplant every 6-8weeks. It tends to be pretty hot for seedlings and clones so i would suggest a seedling starter for the little ones. I pretty much just use 6.5 phd water til around the 3rd week or so in flowering. Its pretty simple. I personally use FF trio for nutes but it might as well be a duo since i dont use any nutes during veg. Hope this helps you a little. Good luck

You can pick any name brand nutrient recommended for growing weed.. it is just weed. I'm sure there's plenty of people here having great success with both Fox Farms, Advanced, etc. in soil and soilless mix. So long as you get a balanced package including macro and micro nutrients, IMHO you shouldn't have to worry about 90% of the supposed issues you hear about on this and other boards. Get something with A/B (both veg/flower), MEASURE when you mix it and don't over do it. I personally use Advanced and mix 2oz to 10 gal of water; aka, 60ml to about 38.7l, of A and B. This results in about 650 ppm for me.. Know your measurements, and get a feel for how much liquid you can put in a container.. All of this will become second nature.

Regarding new plants (clones), just mix it lighter, base nutes only. Seedlings, 1/2 strength after about 2 weeks or so. You'll get the feel of this too..
