Getting ready to start my first grow in several years once my seeds come in. So excited! I just got a used armoire I bought off of craigs list today to use as a stealth cabinet. It is going to need a little fixing up but it will suit my needs. It is 47" wide, 19.5" deep, and 64" tall. I am in an apartment at the moment until my lease is up in april or may, so stealth is a necessity at the moment. I am planning on using this cabinet probably only this time for a full veg & flower -- after this round I will most likely turn this cabinet into a place for clones and mothers.
Heat was always my greatest enemy in my previous grows so I want to try and go LED or some other lighting method (induction?) other than HID if possible. Because of the limited size, getting a maximum yield is going to be critical to making it through the next grow when I will hopefully have more room. The seeds I've ordered are recommended for topping/scrogging, so that is what I'm planning on doing at the moment. When I grew before, LEDs really weren't an option so I really don't know which system to get. What I do know is I can't afford to spend a ton of cash on an LED system to find out it doesn't work well.
Total lighting budget: $500-1000 - prefer to stay closer to $500 obviously
Was thinking of getting a couple of 120W UFOs to start and adding 2 more for flowering.... or just buying 4 to start. I think because of the limited space they should do good on coverage right? But I've heard a lot of complaints about cheap UFOs not working well. Also that the UFOs don't get great coverage. I guess what I really want to know is what options in my price range have people successfully used before that will fit in the space I have -- and produce dense flowers. I previously grew with a 600w HPS, and a similar results yield/quality wise (or better) are what I am looking for. I also looked at the 240w blackstar light and the Inda-Grow induction lights. Just not sure which way to go but I need to make up my mind and get something ordered soon so it gets here by the time my seeds get here and germinated.
