I just don't get how all these amendments say they are trying to legalize Pot yet want the State involved all the way. Why??? Why do we need special growers? Why do we need special stores? If they want it legal why regulate at all? It still seems all about money and unless you have lots of money you won't be one of the ones allowed to grow. I have to admit I agree with Gregoire on this one, and at least she is trying the Fed way. The one that adds DUI's is crazy yet getting lots of sigs.....
"The campaign behind the latest effort to legalize, tax, and regulate the sale of marijuana in Washington State plans to file approximately 355,000 signatures at the state secretary of state??s office tomorrow morning??more than enough to ensure that the measure, Initiative 502, makes it onto the November 2012 general election ballot.
The initiative would put the state liquor control board in charge of regulating and taxing marijuana, and could bring in as much as $300 million per biennium for health care and drug abuse programs, its backers claim.
In an interview with PubliCola earlier this month, Gov. Chris Gregoire came out against the initiative, arguing that it would lead to ??a bunch of federal busts.? (Pot is still illegal under federal law). ??If you want to legalize marijuana, let??s do it at the federal level,? Gregoire said."
