I just don't get how all these amendments say they are trying to legalize Pot yet want the State involved all the way. Why??? Why do we need special growers? Why do we need special stores? If they want it legal why regulate at all? It still seems all about money and unless you have lots of money you won't be one of the ones allowed to grow. I have to admit I agree with Gregoire on this one, and at least she is trying the Fed way. The one that adds DUI's is crazy yet getting lots of sigs.....

"The campaign behind the latest effort to legalize, tax, and regulate the sale of marijuana in Washington State plans to file approximately 355,000 signatures at the state secretary of state??s office tomorrow morning??more than enough to ensure that the measure, Initiative 502, makes it onto the November 2012 general election ballot.

The initiative would put the state liquor control board in charge of regulating and taxing marijuana, and could bring in as much as $300 million per biennium for health care and drug abuse programs, its backers claim.

In an interview with PubliCola earlier this month, Gov. Chris Gregoire came out against the initiative, arguing that it would lead to ??a bunch of federal busts.? (Pot is still illegal under federal law). ??If you want to legalize marijuana, let??s do it at the federal level,? Gregoire said."

Yes I'm against this latest intiative and will vote against it. The DUI part is absolutely ridiculous. And we don't need the state practicing facism by running the sales of cannabis. Doug Hiatt's intiative was way better. It removed the words cannabis and hemp from every law on the books in Washington. Thats the one that should have gotten passed.
Gregoire is an idiot. State workers are in no way threatened by the DEA. The 10th Amendment protects them from the DEA's tyranny. One of the best things we could do would be to cut all funding dor the DEA.

That 5 nanogram DUI blood limit is effing stupid!!! Also the fact that a zero tolerance law is attached for those under 21 is ridiculous.... It'll be open season on all drivers who look like they might be a toker....and all minorities under 21 will surely be fucked with, I mean detained and searched.... I-502 does not protect patients or legalize cannabis.... It creates a platform for state officials to increase their revenue....through taxes, fines, arrests and all that comes with.... If I lived in Washington, I'd vote NO.... Why??? Because the cannabanoid levels in my blood are always elevated....and according to that piece of paper....I'd be committing a crime everytime I'd get behind the wheel, impaired or not.... Increased police state maybe???

They obviously must have been using paid people to push this. I imagine a lot of people just saw cannabis and blindly put there name on it. Hopefully they'll take the time to read the initiative and vote it down. Our laws are already a mess enough without adding this monstrosity on top of them.

Everybody seems to want more regulation just to try and get cannabis legalized. I would prefer we go the other way and just legalize cannabis with no regulations. This plant is already well documented of being perfectly safe and in no way endangers anyone. Treat it like a tomato plant.
