I just ordered one of these off ebay. I did a few good nights of research and this seemed to be the right model for me. I've used the vapor bros and that was dope, but alot of my friends have that and i wanted somthing different, plus i liked the handblown glass pieces and supposedly healthier ceramic heating element of the SSV. Pretty much all the reviews I read highly praised it, but i was wondering if anyone in here has one or any experience with one? Thanks alot.

finally got some herb and got to spend some quality time with this thing, im very satisfied. I reccomend it for anyone looking for a good vaporizer but dosent have 500 bucks for a volcano. it definetly gets the job done, heats up fast, and the rips are fuckin POTENT. uses such a small amount of weed too.

My dormmate this year at school has a SSV, and we are very, very satisfied because in the dorms it gives off very little smell or excess smoke, while still giving pretty strong rips. It seems like with good upper mids to high quality buds, You need just 2 pinches of the quality ground up good to get really high.

my friend owns one of these and since he lives with his parents and they forbid him from smoking i ended up storing/using it at my house . But i do have to say they kick ass. The only problem i found was there isnt really anway to tell what temp setting its at (unless the piece was broken off in one of the two times it was thrown away). So buy 2 sharpies with different colors then find the best temps and mark them. One sharpie for dry weed the other for moist weed.

My friend bought one of these last year with his graduation money. They are completely legit.
He got the SSV vapo, a stir stick, and a hands free clip for the bowl all for the original price of the vapo at a smoke shop in Houston (BC Smoke Shop, best smoke shop in the H)
But not only was his deal a good price but i talked to him recently because i myself am purchasing one very soon, he said the service from SSV is really good. His friend broke his bowl, and he just called up the company and they mailed him another one for free.
Hell yeah SSV!
Oh yeah and a local dealer around here has one. He got some outdoor buddah called spearimint or whatever... and through the SSV that shit tasted exactly like some winterfresh gum! Awesome vaporizer!

The OP got an SSV for $145?? Then I noticed the date-almost 3 yrs. ago. I do remember seeing them go for $165 or so on ebay in '06. Price went up again (last month I think) from $219 to $249. Damn! Quit jacking the price up Steve! :(
kron, best place to get custom glass for this is silversurfervap.com. They've got pics of what they have in stock or can special order. You may find some in a headshop that sells the vape too.

I am writing this to the online community to clear up the misconception that 7th Floor the Company that makes the Silver Surfer actually stands behind their product, which they don't.
I purchased a "Silver Surfer" on Feb. 5, 2009.
It arrived about a week later via UPS, but didn't work. I then called toll free number the following day seeking advice about what to do. The customer service stated that it was a dimmer issue and that one would be sent out. Another week went by and the dimmer arrived without any instructions. I spoke with customer service again who stated that I needed to remove the dimmer with a 10mm socket. I drove all over town seeking a 10mm deep socket. I then installed the new dimmer and the light on the back came on, but the Silver Surfer remained "defective". I then promptly called customer service again and explained the situation. I explained that my patience had run out, because since ordering this device 3-weeks had passed and still no solution.
I offered two solutions and was told I would receive an e-mail with instructions at the end of business on Thursday, Feb. 19th, nothing. I then called again and they said they would send out a new one and a return label for the defective one and guess what - nothing again nothing but a bunch of lies.
I am getting the sense that the great customer service I have heard about is an on-line fiction.
So now what I am going to do is spread the word that these guys are "unprofessional" don't care about customer service and I am sending everything back at my own expense and will never do business or recommend this business to anyone.
Spread the word that you will only loose time and money dealing with this company.
Cheers.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Their customer service is very hit and miss, and it's because business is booming and they can't get organized and keep employee turnover under control. It's not news if you read the forum feedback from buyers. I don't know where you've heard about great service. I'm sure a lot get it, but mostly what you hear is complaints. I'm surprised they sent you a new temp control without asking if that was OK. Usually they ask.
I've gotten both good and bad service from them. I've also talked with the owner via email several times, and I understand why they're having service problems, although it seems like they still have a long way to go as far as improvement. Eventually they'll get it together. Meanwhile they'll continue to sell a ton of vapes. I'm afraid your 'spread the word' post isn't going to have much impact.

Hell yeah man, I love BC. I go up to the new one off of Jones/1960. I got my SSV up there as well. As for the quality, it is great.

I took the stem off a bowlhead to my fav waterpipe(2ft double chamber glass:thumbsup:)Then took the mouthpiece off of the SSV, inserted the stem... Bam Vapbong... Now you get a vap hit that you can setup and pull:thumbsup: and its cooled/moist from the water:thumbsup:No more dry mouth :thumbsup:and this set up with the one hand thing makes it much easier to use

Oh and to take a stem off a glass bowl. I used a pvc pipe cutter. Put a strip of electrical tape where you want to cut, around the stem. Then use the cutter. Take it slow and it will cut perfect, the elec tape will keep any cracks or splinters from happening. Or use a glass cutter.

So are you saying that the vapor goes through the water? If so, that would defeat the purpose of vaping because scientific studies showed that water actually extracts some THC out of what you're breathing in. I guess you might still be getting more overall THC than smoking but not more than vaping without water. I could be wrong on this so please correct me if I misinterpreted . I might get a SS so this might be something I'll have to try. Thanks for sharing.:hippy:

THC isn't water soluble and the amount lost when vapor is passed through water is minimal. Some even drink the water after filtering out particulates, since it's not nasty like bong water.

Does the same thing hold true for CBN/CBD's ?
