Pitbulls are banned in my state

Yesterday American pitbulls were banned in the state of NSW following 2 dog attacks by pittys in 1 day.Its the first time a breed of dog has ever been banned in NSW.My dog is chipped etc as an american staffy but he is half staffy half pitbull can they know this in any way i dont want him put down.Everytime i walk him people are scared if they know what kind of dog he is.Even the vet said to me he dont look staffy he looks like a pitbull.The breeder told me she did this because of the way people feel about pittys.The dog pound always walk around the street and always come over and check him out.They cant do anything to him if he is chipped etc as a staffy is that right ?

That is truely some bs. Its not the dogs fault what breed it is, just like its not the plants fault that its cannabis. I would deffinetly keep your dog as long as possible and if you just can't do it try to find a loving home for him. Is your dog at all aggressivel? I would hate to put down a perfectly healthy dog just because some lawmakers don't like his kind. Hope you and your dog the best.

It all depends how you raise the dog from it was a pup. Authority just label them because assholes rasie and breed pits,Rots, other big dogs for fights. Over time since the assholes are breeding them long enough and breeding them to be mean, they become more and more aggressive in their genes. My brother has A half Wolf/ Half Dog mix. Beautiful Dog... Solid and big, Jet black with Bright blue eyes. Pointed Ears. A Mamed neck and a big ass fluffy tail. and the dog is as cool and mellow as hell Since my bro rasied it decent as a pup

Theres a pic of him on here somewhere.He is the sweetest thing and does not even bark much and starts doing a wee when i get mad at him for digging or something.He is not nasty at all because i want him as a good animal with kids and he is.I do know idiots that do fight there dogs or have them to be guard dogs.Actually i kinda wish my dog would guard the house a bit better he just wags his tail and cries if he sees someone walking past.

I don't know how they can enforce a ban on pitbulls. why not just a ban on breeding them, with a law that you have to have them fixed?

I was thinking that they should make you be registered a a pitbull owner or breeder and have the pups chipped so an eye can be kept on them so whoevers dog bitesor attacks then the owner will be held responsible and not the dog.

Pitbulls are not dum, there very loyal and smart. I have owned several in the past. And they cannot make a law that will take out dogs allready there. You now just can't import or breed them to be american pit-bulls. If it is part saffordshire you are fine. Pit-bulls are really undefined these days, but if they just banned American pit bullas basically everyone is fine as they don't have real ones (almost always have wrong ears and are larger) the american bulldog crossed with the American pitbull is now what the standard for "pit bull" is. This is because the American bulldog is much much larger, around twice the weight, of an american pit. Also, American Pitbulls have different ears, they do not go back like a staffordshire bull terrier, but go up and curl in the air. Staffordshire terriers are much more like pit-bulls as they have errect ears and are very similar in size, whule the bull/terrier version is smaller.They are also in the AKC unlike American Pitbulls and their ears do not curl.

SO all in all you and your pup are fine.

I had one in New York City..good protection and a great dog. A few close calls but the dog never attacked anyone in the 4 years I owned her..

I thought pitbulls ears were like that because they were docked or something lol silly me.Why the hell are my dogs ears so big ??? even the staffy in him shouldnt make him have big ears.Strange i will put a pic of him when i install new software.

He will grow much much bigger. pitbulls are not supposed to have their ears or tails docked. Part of it is that his head will get larger and strech the base of his ear causing them to become erect. He will have his full muscle mass at around age 3, at age 1.5-2 he will reach the his top height. Do his ears go fold back or flop over like a rottweiler or lab? When I mean "go back" you can look at my dog to get an idea what I mean
Also, what staffordshire is in him? Is it stafforshire pit terrier or staffordshire terrier? If it is pit terrier I could see the cross creating long ears.

The breeder told me that he was half american staffordshire bull terrier and 1/2 pitbull.I dont really know the difference between the staffys as there are a few diff ones.Like the american ones seem to look bigger and stronger than the regular staffy terrier.

He weighs 44 pounds but shit why isnt he built like a brick shithouse like those dogs ?because i take him walking every day and play with balls at the park with him he gets alot of exercise maybe its just that he is still a puppy and growing into his skin.

"those dogs" reffering to the pics? because he's a puppy, muscels develope during the dog's adolesence which happens from just before 2 years up untill 3.
