Hi guys i was wondering how should i bring the subject of medical marijuana up to my doctor?
I think i need it because i recently started having grand mal seizures this year 1 in feb and 1 on the 26th of novemember.I was in a car accident in 2002 and i would have simple partial seizures(not the physical grand mal kind) around every 8months.but this year ive been having grand mal for the first time and i started on Dilantin for seizure control.I am attriubting this to my pain medication i was taking Ratio-oxycodene and looking online i found it has major side effects when combined with dilantin and anyone with a seizure disorder in general. since thats the only thing that has changed this year.So i stopped taking that and am going to try medical marijuana
What is the best way to bring this up to a doctor?I currently am switching family doctors as mine is not knowledgable in many fields. So when i find a new 1 i dont know if i should bring this up right away?or wait?If i bring it up right away it might seem that im just "doctor hopping" to get drugs when im not.
thank you for any information
(im from canada by the way)

After your doc has reviewed your medical history record, you should simply let him/her know that you've tried cannabis and it alleviated your pain better than anything you've been prescribed before.... If they turn down your request, move on....

I've never tried canabis before but ive done alot of research into it and it seems like it will help me.I would rather get if from the government where i know its "safer"then off the streets than someone i dont know whats in it or how its grown. But if i do get turned down that will be my only option :(

Too bad you don't know anyone who already has a source.... I personally wouldn't trust any government to grow my meds....but that's just me.... Governments have a funny little voice on their shoulders that tells them to fuck with shit to "see what happens"....:cursing:....but that's a whole different thread....
It sounds like you might just have to go from doc to doc to find one willing.... I don't know the regulations for canadas mmj program so I can only wish you luck....

:thumbsup:Since medical cannabis is an option in Canada. Wait for some Canadians to check in here and help you out. Don't worry, you can grow your own organic medication. Seems like you've researched all the answers and it is within you. I have had some pretty nice pals in here, in the past and currently, from Canada. We'll let them help you out. Will watch this and see if you get any guidance you request. Good Luck. You definitely need to be on something for Grand Mal seizure disorder.
I will warn you. Never just stop taking any medication. It is not wise. So, lets start there. Since you don't have a 'loading dose' of pot. Don't stop your medication! O.K.? Good luck, will drop back in here! :rasta:pr

You Exodus1, have my attention! Well, I don't know alot, but glad to share what I do!
You cannot overdose on it! I say, Have a big friggin medicating party! ASAP!
Seriously, what strain do you have? Indica, I hope! You do not want to get too much sativa and 'stimulate' the brain! You need to practice.
Vapes are really cool. My first one I used with Blueberry and good golly what a party! I was so relaxed with it. I do try everything that I can though. It is so nice to go to a collective and pick and choose different strains. Much nicer to grow your own and have a hobby that keeps you calm and interested. A hobby is very important therapy! Good Luck,
Really surprised no Canadians are here!
Still waiting for some Canadians here? Looking out the back door, now! Well, guess it is pretty cold there!pr

Exodus1, checking in on you!
I presume you have not experimented in the past, guessing here, due to religion. I did the same thing. Now, reformed First South. Bapt. Doesn't get much worse. Even taught Sunday School. College changed me and the way I think! Life does it over time, as well. We grow up and find a belief system that works for us. And this is not a thread on Church, so we won't go there.
When you medicate, you need to wait untill you 'feel' something between taking the medication in. Others and myself medicate in that fashion. For the effect we desire. It is nice to do it with a pal. And experienced toker will let you know about 'when' he/she feel it. You will have to find it for yourself. You may or may not feels anything the first time. I know people that do not. People that do not smoke tobacco have a bit of difficulty. And if the medication is not 'smooth' you may feel irritation. Start slow and low with paced doses. Vapes are my preference. And I do not smoke tobacco. It is not a prerequisite. And hope you don't have to deal with that issue anyway.
Due to your seizure disorder and your complaints of the medication, you may be on a high dose and may never be able to quit it completely. I do believe a Canadian is helping you now. Hopefully, things will work out for you. You should be able to talk to your Dr.. Since, it is legal there and Gov't medical system, I do hope it all works out for you! You take care of yourself and continue to read. If you don't like the Dr. you may need to change a few times. You are observant and cautious. Feel your way with your own sense's thorugh this. Be sure to read Granny Storm Crow's list. It is pretty important. If you need, I will find and bump for you. :rasta: It shouldn't be too far, bumped it recently.
Will be curious what you learn about the medical care there and hope you pass on the help to other Canadians.:rasta: My favorite guerilla grower of mmj is up there somewhere! I miss him or her! :jointsmile:pr

Hey exodus sorry I didn't realise there isn't pm's on this forum. Before you see a doctor you should try and see if marijuana helps out your symptoms write down how much you consume a day and how it helps you. There are a lot of different methods such as makin tea, smokin, vaporizing or making butter and making baked goods, only you will know which method works best. You should have a list of all the pills that you have tried and have not worked ready for the dr as well . You can check out the site medical marijuana cure.com. They are very helpful and understand our needs! I hope this helps .

Hey Exodus, I too have epilepsy since I was 14 (am 28 now) and have found weed has helped a lot. Mostly I have grand mals in my sleep, but have done them awake as well. I've even had as many as 10-12 within an hour causing me to stop breathing. The meds I take do stop the grand mals, but the petite mals don't stop. I piss a lot of people off jerking my legs constantly, I don't even notice it. Those are seizures the weed stops. It also helps with a bad attitude, I get mad very easily, can't sleep some nights and get depressed some days. When it comes to talking to a doctor about it, I say just go for it. I've been through a few here (Sudbury, Ontario) and found none that will sign for it. I tell them what's going on and how the weed helps. That's all you can do really. I've even gotten so frustrated at a doctor and told them fine, I'll just keep doing it illegally. Also let them know you have been doing it for such amount of time, it's basically been tested already. All you can do after that is hope for the right answer.

Magic can be created thorugh Marijuana. If you are confusded regarding the modalities of its usage then go through the Act of your respective state and be aware of all the nuances. And then take the advice of a experienced doctor and all the things will be really easy for you.
