For preparations, sure, why not? But if you truely don't want to, then wait it out. If you don't care, i'd find out just to be ahead of the game.
edit: i hope your son isnt the baby in your avatar

I didn't want to know so therefore I chose not to find out. It was a personal choice and I have to say the surprise was worth it. After going through labor it gave me something to look forward too. Just a thought. By the way, I had a feeling about the sex of all three of my children, and I was dead on! I just knew, I don't know how I new but I did.
One last thing, my bestfriend was told she was going to have a little girl. She wanted to know so she could get a head start on shopping for the baby. Well, as it turns out her little girl was a boy, and she was stuck trying to return all those dresses and pink sheet. :( I would say if you find out and they tell you it's a boy, then they are likely right, but if they say it's a girl, be careful, b/c maybe, just maybe they missed something.
Congrats, on your pregnancy and if you ever need any advice feel free to ask, I've had three kids. 2 c-sections and 1 natural. I've pretty much been through it all. Good luck and take care of yourself and you little one.

I had my son naturally and also had no pain relief just nitrous oxide and i was thinking about having a c section because of all the problems i had with him.I was in labour 15 hrs then induced then forceps and a tear 2nd degree and getting stitched for over 1 hour.I heard that once you have scarred tissue the skin does not stretch is that true as i was hoping next time i might only get maybe 5 sutures max.Because if the skin does not stretch then i would tear or have to have an epesiotomy is that right ?

I wish I could help you with that one, but I didn't tear with the one I had naturally. I did have a c-section first and then a natural and then a c-section. I tried to have my last one naturally but her cord was wrapped so they had to take her. I will tell you I recovered much faster with the natual birth, but as I said I didn't tear and they didn't have to assist with anything either. He was my smallest baby too, so maybe that helped me. My first was breech so I had no choice there either.

More power to ya, I couldn't handle more then one at a time, and congrats on your little boy. I have to say I love all my kids, but there is something special about my son maybe b/c he is my only one, but he is the one I'm closest too.

I think it would be cool to not know until it's born. The element of surprise is good.

Oh ok i want to have another naturally i just gotta find out those things.I couldnt have sex for 3 mths and then it hurt bad the first few times but it looked fully healed from the outside within 2 weeks.Im holding off going for an ultrasound for a while as im scared and also waiting till then to have an ultrasound because its possible the baby may have neural tube defect and hopefully i will see in that ultrasound after the first trimester.I just know all will be ok.Only 2 people know im pregnant im waiting to have tests and i think i have to have amniocentisis if they cant get a clear ultrasound pic which they never can see because i have a retroverted uterus so is done internally.

Sorry to hear that dear. Keep me posted and I will say a prayer for you. Are you smoking right now? Don't worry I'm not here to judge you. I didn't smoke with my first one, but I wasn't smoking at all back then. By the time my second one came around I was smoking daily all day long. I didn't quit until I was 6mths and no would sell to me anymore. With my last one, I smoked the whole time. In fact I was high when I went to the hospital to have her. All my kids are fine. Guess I got lucky. I nursed them all too. They slept well. Anyway, I'm not advising it. I didn't tell anyone I was smoking ever, until now. Well, my husband knew but he didn't like it. He also didn't try and stop me b/c he was smoking too. O well, like I said, I guess I got lucky or at least my kids got lucky. No harm no foul as they say

Im not smoking but in all honesty i was vomiting for a week solid and couldnt go out of the house i had a 1 bong hit after ALOT of research on pot with the underdeveloped foetus and read case studies etc and also listened to Del.Anyways i had just 1 about a week or 2 ago and havent felt as sick since.I ate for the first time in nearly a week after that.I weigh 1 kilo less than before i fell pregnant because of the sickness im nearly 3 mths preg now.I feel terrible and probably be hated but im just being honest.I still vomit but things seem to be getting better.I have not had more.

I smoked for the first 2 mths with my son i did not even know i was pregnant till then. When i went into labour before i went to the hospital i had a few because i knew i was having no pain relief and being stoned wore off really quick with those cramps lol.I would rather go through childbirth pain anyday than have an epidural thats one thing that scares the hell out of me.

Jacque - You seem like an amazing mom. I honestly don't know enough about smoking weed while pregnant to see the harm in it.
Anyway, if you wouldn't care whether it's a boy or a girl, you should totally get an ultrasound. Think of how fun/cool seeing your baby is/would be. ^^
Edit and PS: It's been 10 minutes, where are you?

I have to have the ultrasound but im putting it off just so i can know more.In just 2 weeks they will definatley be able to see the gender.I was supposed to have it 2 weeks ago the doctor is probably thinking ive turned maniac and ran for the hills or something lol.She thinks im difficult enough because i wont go to a local hospital because there crap so i have heard. She said what if your in a rush when u go into labour and need to get there fast.I said i will just pull over and push it out and i will make sure i got scissors with me to cut the cord.My mum had my brother at home and it was like 20 mins he was born she did it herself but didnt cut the cord so he could have died. All was good she managed i will just make sure i got scissors lol.

-laughs- Naw, I meant why aren't you at my house with the bud you promised. -laughs- You said you'd be over in 10 minutes.
Anyway, don't have an episode! It's bad for the baby! -laughs- I'm kidding. So from the unbiased information you have, is smoking weed every now and then ((a toke or two every week or two)) bad for the baby? I wouldn't think it would be, but what do I know.
My friend's mom took mushrooms while having him. Though she didn't know she was pregnant yet. Anyway, he's pretty normal. I imagine lots of people smoked pot while pregnant ((at least before they knew they were)) and are just too embarassed to admit it.

For the first 2 I didn't find out but the last time I found out she was a girl but only a few days before she was born. And I kept it a secret from everyone else. To me I prefer not finding out over finding out.
Some ppl need to feel absolutely prepared and MUST found out the sex, so they can feel more ready. For them I would say finding out would probably calm them down and help them prep. It all depends on what would make you feel most ready. If finding out would help you deal better and cause you less stress then absolutely find out.
Btw, guess who has to go for a pregnancy test tomorrow even though she has her freakin tubes tied but the doctor thinks they grew back together and she's knocked up AGAIN even though she already has 3 kids and is crazy enough as it is? I'm sure you can figure it out!

when my first girl was born i kept it a secret 'cause everone was making bets. the second girl everyone knew about. had 3 (YES T-H-R-E-E!!!) epidural shots with the first 'cause her head was too big. poor baby. good thing she's grown into it now. had the second one naturally and was the easiest thing in the world. congrats on the new "bun" jacquelyne. keeping you in my prayers. no matter what it turns out to be, let's just make sure that it's healthy. ;D
